Forget Monk And Karanka – It Is Time Leeds United Look To Sign Any Of These Two Super Managers

Former Leeds manager Garry Monk

Two Replacements For Garry Monk Who Leeds Can Consider

Since the shock resignation of Garry Monk, Leeds United have been starting the process of looking for a new manager.

The Elland Road side were desperately close to achieving a play-off place this season and many fans were looking forward to the new campaign – a new owner and perhaps a new outlook, leading to lots of optimism. Clearly, not everything is positive behind the scenes and Monk leaves with the best wishes of the fans.

Leeds is a special club though and special consideration will need to be given by the board on who to bring in. This coming season is crucial for the Yorkshire side; another disappointment and failure to go up could see their stock fall even further in the football world and make them less and less likely to attract top players.

Former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka heads the race to become Monk’s replacement. Of course, the Spaniard has previous experience in this division, but here we offer two alternative candidates for the post:

Claudio Ranieri

The former Leicester City manager and countryman of the new owner made Premier League history by guiding the Foxes to their unprecedented title in the 2015/16 season. His love for English football is great and he would be just the type to add a rigid stability and calm to a talented Leeds squad in order to bring the very best out of them.

With Ranieri at the helm, Leeds would be among the favourites to go up next season and so if they can afford him and if he is up for the challenge, he would certainly be my own preferred choice.
