Forget Mark Hughes: Here Are 3 Quality Managers Stoke City Could Sign Including The Sheffield United Boss

Three Managers To Replace Mark Hughes At Stoke City

This season has been notorious for clubs sacking their managers and if recent reports are to be believed, Stoke City boss Mark Hughes could be the next on the list. The Potters have lost their last 3 games and have been disappointing from the very beginning. They have little to cheer about so far but plenty to be frustrated about and the manager has been at the receiving end of a lot of criticism from the fans. They are currently at 17th place in the table and are teetering dangerously on the brink of the relegation zone.

In their latest defeat against West Ham United, Hughes was seen embroiled in a nasty spat with former player Marko Arnautovic, which did not bode well for the fans. Hence, it provides all the more reason to believe that he could be out of the Bet365 Stadium soon. If that were to happen, here are 3 managers Stoke could consider replacing him with.

Chris Wilder

Some might view it as a bit of a gamble since he has not managed a Premier League club so far but one look at his record and it is safe to say that he knows how to steady a sinking ship. In fact, he has been remarkable for the past three seasons, which shows he’s quite consistent. He won consecutive promotions to higher levels with Northampton Town and his current club, Sheffield United. Both clubs were struggling but with him in charge, they managed to do better and Wilder could just be what Stoke need at the moment.

Tony Pulis

The fans may not be too happy but he has emerged as a likely contender. If that happens, it will mark Pulis’ third time being in charge of the Potters after securing top-flight promotion for them in 2008 and taking them to the FA Cup final in 2011. Having recently been sacked by West Bromwich Albion, Pulis definitely will have free time on his hands to take up this job. He is known for building a team around defensive stability and that could help Stoke to salvage the rest of the season after having shipped quite a number of goals so far.

Martin O’Neill

He may not have managed a team in the top-flight since his time with Sunderland but O’Neill is famous for having stabilized the likes of Aston Villa and Leicester City. He can work with limited resources and has a knack of bringing teams out of danger. Also, he has enough Premier League experience to be considered as a worthy option and he could work his magic at Stoke.
