Forget Man United – This £30m star would be better off moving to any of these two Premier League clubs instead

Premier League Opinion – Two Premier League clubs who should target Eric Bailly in the summer

According to a report in Metro, Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly is deemed surplus to requirement by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and teh club is ready to sell the player in the summer transfer window.

The Ivory Coast international, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2016 from Villarreal for a fee around £30m, hasn’t been able to stamp his place in the team.

Constant niggling injuries have kept him out of action for several games throughout the course of seasons, leading to inconsistent performances and eventually not settling in the plans of the manager.

As a de facto, Bailly is a quality defender who just hasn’t made it stick at United. If he moves elsewhere, his propensity at the back would surely be on display, provided he produces a better fitness level.

Here are the two Premier League clubs who should target the Ivorian in the summer transfer window:

Tottenham

In the latest Manchester Evening News report, Spurs are resigned to lose Toby Alderweireld to Manchester United. Hence, Mauricio Pochettino’s men would be in the market for a new centre-back, if that happens.

Toby Alderweireld

Bailly could be an ideal addition to the north London-based team. The Ivorian is a quality centre-back, who can be a real leader at the back. He is slowly gaining positive points on his fitness, that wasn’t very good at the start of his Manchester United career.

If Bailly’s niggling injuries become a thing of the past, which eventually it does, then Tottenham could have a potentially top-quality centre-back on their hands.

Everton

Everton could do with a prodigious centre-back like Bailly in their squad. Phil Jagielka is on the receiving end of his career, while the trio of Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Kurt Zouma doesn’t always exude confidence.

Marco Silva’s men have been horrendous at the back this season, shipping in 42 goals from 30 league games. They must spend in getting a quality centre-back in the summer, and none better than Eric Bailly of Manchester United.

Conclusion

All in all, Eric Bailly is a top-class centre-back who needs a run of games to prove his worth. At Manchester United, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof is doing a good job and Solskjaer anyway doesn’t fancy the Ivorian. Hence, him moving away from Old Trafford isn’t a bad idea.

Both Everton and Tottenham could end up being in the summer market for a centre-back, because while the former require quality in that position, the latter could be forced into making a buy.
