Leo Bonatini had enjoyed a great start to life in the Championship, scoring 12 goals before Christmas and making a serious impact on defenders up and down the country. However, the second half of the season has not been as impressive and Bonatini has struggled for form and in recent weeks. In fact, he has even lost his place in the Wolves starting XI and things do not look good for him right now.

The 23-year-old Brazillian is currently on loan from Al-Hilal Riyadh and is due to go back in the summer. Although the Wolves do have an option to buy him permanently, they might be considering other players after his performances in 2018. These are some of the transfers that might be available to Nuno Espirito Santo if they the club chooses to let Bonatini go back to Saudi Arabia.

Benik Afobe

The first option is staring the manager right in the face. Benik Afobe has started ahead of Bonatini in recent times and the attack seems to have come alive at Molineux. He has a contract at Bournemouth until 2020 but it is safe to assume that he should be able to get a move away from the South Coast if he wants to.

Afobe offers Wolves quite a lot on the field and he can lead the line well. The difficulty for Wolves is that playing with Afobe changes their style of play by making them much more reliant on crosses into the box rather than intricate build-up play. He is also not the best on the counter-attack which would be a tactic they must sharpen before playing in the Premier League.

Lys Mousset

The 22-year-old Frenchman burst onto the scene at Bournemouth this season and is catching a lot of attention around the league. Signing Lys Mousset would possibly mean Santo bending Eddie Howe’s ear a lot more since Mousset is very well-thought-of on the South Coast.

The exciting thing about Mousset is that he fits the style of Nuno Espirito Santo’s team, and for Wolves fans, a player with Premier League experience can never be a bad thing.

Luciano Vietto

The tricky Argentinian is currently on loan at Valencia from Atletico Madrid and has also spent time on loan at Sevilla. He is unlikely to get a chance at Atletico and will be looking for a new challenge at the end of the season. To that end, playing for a newly-promoted Wolves side in the Premier League could be right up his alley.

An Argentinian with Italian heritage, Vietto would fit nicely to the Wolves’ way of playing and could be the kind of signing that would make the rest of the league sit up and take notice.
