Two Alternatives For John McGinn Who Ipswich Town Can Look To Sign

Hibernian have, according to reports, rejected a £1million bid from Ipswich Town for midfield man John McGinn. The Edinburgh club have already had to deal with the loss of striker Jason Cummings to the English Championship, as he has signed for Nottingham Forest and former Rangers boss Mark Warburton. The million-pound offer came in for the 22-year-old midfielder last week but was rejected immediately by the Easter Road hierarchy.

Tractor Boys boss Mick McCarthy is said to be a fan of the midfielder, though the transfer package offered, appeared to fall short of requirements set by Hibs. McGinn moved two years ago from St Mirren and is now fully part of the Scotland national set-up. Midfielders of this age possessing genuine quality won’t always be available for £1m-£2m, though here are a couple of others who Ipswich Town can look at.

Jack Colback (Newcastle United)

Although playing his football at a massive club, Colback was not the first pick in the Newcastle midfield last season in the Championshi[ and so will definitely not be guaranteed a start in Rafa Benitez’s Premier League line-up. With a similar style to McGinns but with more experience behind him, Colback may represent as a good a value signing, if a little more short term.

Devine is just 19 years old and has tons of potential, meaning whatever fee Bradford accept would be small beer in comparison with what the club could expect to get back in a few years time. Devine is under contract at Valley Parade until 2019 and would definitely command a reasonable fee. However, it is nowhere near as much as Hibs will eventually demand for McGinn.
