Manchester United opinion: Why Manchester United shouldn’t make a move for Daniel James
Manchester United’s struggle this season has been very widespread and that has affected the team on a whole. It wasn’t just one area that failed to do much for the team but instead a catalogue of issues in and around the team that stopped them from finishing amongst the top-four.
Jose Mourinho’s sacking seemed to help things but even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer couldn’t change things. The former Manchester United player took over after a humbling defeat at the hands of Liverpool, which proved to be Jose Mourinho’s final game in charge.
After that, the Red Devils endured a superb spell between the 22nd of December and 9th of March. However, everything collapsed with losses to Arsenal, Wolves (twice) and Manchester City. The season isn’t over with a game left against Cardiff City after a shocking 1-1 draw to the relegated Huddersfield.
That draw showcased everything that Manchester United have been plagued with this season, with no one showing a will to win. It showed where Solskjaer needs to change his team and what additions he needs to make.
The core of their team are past the age of 28 and thus the club is looking to change that by targeting the likes of Joao Felix, Ruben Diaz (Guardian) and Jadon Sancho (Independent) among others. But a new target in Daniel James has arisen, with the Daily Mail reporting as such.
The young Swansea City starlet was heavily linked with a move to Leeds United in January. However, the Swans pulled out of the same move in the eleventh hour, opting instead to keep the starlet at the club.
That didn’t seem to affect the 21-year-old, with him contributing to seven goals since January, finishing the season with a total of 15.
The Red Devils don’t need another promising starlet at their disposal, what they need is a world-class superstar, who can step in and make a difference. Someone more established at a much higher level and at the same time, someone who has enough time on his side to make a difference.
Otherwise, it would like the move for Alexis Sanchez, with the club now struggling to get rid of him. Daniel James, on the other hand, is the exact opposite of all that and is someone who needs regular game-time to really make a difference.

Daniel James has a very bright future ahead of him and it cannot be one that he wastes sitting on the bench, instead of getting regular game-time. While he is deserving of a big move, now might not be the best time.
