Forget it Bielsa – Leeds United cannot afford to lose this key star amidst Premier League interest

Why Leeds United cannot afford to lose Kemar Roofe amidst interests

According to reports in Birmingham Mail, Wolves, along with other Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Southampton, are all keeping close tabs on Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe. The 25-year-old’s current contract at the Elland Road runs until the summer of 2020, however, that hasn’t stopped interest coming from top-flight clubs in England.

All the three clubs who are interested in the striker have struggled for goals this season. While the Eagles and the Saints have only scored eight and seven goals respectively, Wolves are slightly better with 11. However, both of their goals in a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham came from the penalty spot. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have struggled to finish off chances, even though the creation department is doing its job.

However, Leeds should keep hold of their talisman at any costs. Here’s why:

Roofe – An integral player for the Peacocks

Kemar Roofe has been in fantastic form this season, scoring seven goals in 10 games and providing two assists. He is one of the key members of the Marcelo Bielsa system in the team and looks a real live wire up front for the Peacocks. Partly due to his important goals, the club is now leading the Championship table and aiming for a direct Premier League promotion by the end of this season.

Furthermore, the 25-year-old presses from the front and works ever so hard to keep the opposition defenders on their toes. He is a ruthless striker in front of goal and can also create goal-scoring chances by supplying key passes at a rate of 1.3. All in all, he is a complete package of a striker who fits in the Bielsa system like no other.

Hence, there is no reason why the club should even think of negotiating with other clubs regarding the sale of their most important player. They should think of offering him a new contract with raised proportions, to nullify any rumours surrounding.

Verdict

From the player’s point of view, there is no need to leave a club which is on the upward trajectory. Moreover, he is their key player and the manager’s playing system suits him to the core. The possibility of playing Premier League football with the current team should be enough of a motivation to reject any offers arriving from the clubs in top-flight at the moment.
