Forget Higuain – Liverpool Should Look To Sign Any Of These 3 Super Replacements For Him

According to the Mirror, Gonzalo Higuain wants to join Liverpool. The Argentine has been in terrific form this year for Napoli, scoring 36 goals in 35 games- a Serie A record. He helped Napoli finish second in the Serie A and is all set to play Champion’s League football next season. It has come as a pleasant surprise for Liverpool that the former Real Madrid man is interested in playing for them. Liverpool have Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, Christian Benteke and Divock Origi as striker options but only Sturridge comes close to being a world class. Signing Higuain would give Liverpool the confidence of becoming title challengers next season, but at the moment there is hardly any chance that the deal will go through. Here are 3 alternatives for Higuain that Liverpool can consider:

1.) Alexandre Lacazette

Lacazette should consider himself unlucky to not have his name in France’s 23-man squad for the EURO 2016. Lacazette had a terrific season at Olympique Lyonnais, scoring 23 goals in 40 games in all competitions. The young forward can play in the centre as well as on the sides and has a natural eye for goal. He is hardworking and his high energy game would compliment Jurgen Klopp’s tactics perfectly well. Liverpool again have stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspurs for the young French starlet and the chances of the deal going through are less, but if Klopp can convince Lacazette, it will be a very good signing for Liverpool.

2.) Michy Batshuayi

Batshuayi had an excellent season for Marseille as he scored 23 goals in all competitions. The 23-year-old Belgian has been the leading light for Marseille. Batshuayi will provide Liverpool physical presence at the top along with some quick movement. Liverpool have Benteke, but it was a very poor season for the Belgian and his compatriot seems to be a better option. Batshuayi is rated at around 31 million euros and he recently rejected an offer from West Ham, saying that he wants to join a bigger club or a club who will have Champions League football next season. Liverpool will not have Champions League football next season, but they are a bigger club and all they need to do is make a proper offer for the Belgian.

3.) Mauro Icardi-

Liverpool had made a 22 million euros offer for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi in February 2016 but was rejected. Icardi had an above average season, scoring 16 goals in 33 appearances for the Milan club. Icardi is a hard-working striker with a clear eye for goal and he would suit Klopp’s style of play. Icardi’s agents have said that he is ready to listen to offers and Klopp has a chance to make a better offer than the previous one. Icardi will be a very good alternative for Higuain and Klopp should look to sign him.
