Forget Higuain – Here are 3 top-class attackers who Chelsea could target including world-class Bundesliga beast

3 Gonzalo Higuain alternatives Chelsea could consider this summer

One area that Chelsea are struggling at the moment is the striking department. Alvaro Morata hasn’t been able to live up to expectations and that was one of the main reasons why Chelsea finished outside the top-four.

With Maurizio Sarri coming in to replace Antonio Conte, a new striker is a real mandate for Chelsea. One name they were linked to was Gonzalo Higuain (h/t ESPN) but the striker has joined AC Milan on loan. This has to be a real miss for Chelsea but that doesn’t change the fact that they need a striker who can lead the team’s title charge.

Chelsea need to look at other alternatives and here are three other choices they can consider:

Robert Lewandowski

Since Niko Kovac’s arrival as Bayern boss, their style has become more defensive and he has made them a counter-attacking team. Bayern are not used to playing like that and this could affect star striker Robert Lewandowski’s contribution to the team.

Robert Lewandowski

The Polish striker has been phenomenal for Bayern since his move but if he ever feels like moving out of Bayern, this could be the right time. Chelsea would be an ideal destination for the striker.

Leon Bailey

The Bayer Leverkusen winger had a good outing last season in Germany and in 2015, he posted a picture with him in a Chelsea jersey and captioned it, “Dream big.”

Leon Bailey

Although Bailey is a winger, Chelsea could do with his pace and dynamism up front – something they lacked last season in the absence of Diego Costa. Bailey is a real athlete and so he might be able to take up multiple positions and sync well with the likes of Pedro and Willian up front.

Mario Mandzukic

The Croatian striker had a fantastic World Cup and with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, it could get hard for him to nail down a starting spot. The Premier League could be a more enticing challenge and Mandzukic should consider one last move before hanging up his boots.

Andy Carroll

A move to Chelsea could work well for Mandzukic. He can also be a real menace during set-pieces and this could be an advantage considering the set-piece specialists in the Chelsea team.
