Forget club football: Chelsea’s latest managerial victim should consider these 2 national team jobs

Two clubs former Chelsea Boss Antonio Conte could join after his sacking

Chelsea have finally sacked Antonio Conte, which isn’t much of a surprise given the club’s track record with underperforming managers. But Antonio Conte was one of the Blues’ best coaches and it seems slightly unfair the Italian wasn’t given more time. But well, that’s Roman Abramovich’s problem now.

The club have reportedly appointed fellow Italian Maurizio Sarri as their new head coach but what now for Antonio Conte? The manager who won the Premier League in his first season England and the FA Cup in his second surely deserved another chance.

Unfortunately for him, most of the clubs have already settled in with new managers or decided to stick with their current ones. But here are two national teams that Antonio Conte could move to in search of pastures new.

Antonio Conte Celebrating With Chelsea Players

Argentina

The Albiceleste had a dismal World Cup run in Russia. Argentina drew their opening game against Iceland with 1-1 scoreline, which saw Lionel Messi miss from the penalty spot. The South Americans were then thrashed by Croatia’s golden generation, who are now in the finals of the World Cup.

Jorge Sampaoli’s men edged past Nigeria, winning the game 2-1 to make it to the round of 16, where a dominant French team knocked them out of the World Cup.

Argentina had a number of issues in their squad this time, with the manager criticised for not picking the right players and playing the wrong style of football. Antonio Conte could be their saviour.

The manager has tons of experience at the international level and his football philosophy certainly suits the team. The likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, and Paolo Dybala would relish the prospect of working with the Premier League winner.

Italy

What a return it would be for the Italian. Conte managed the Italian national team for two years before leaving to coach Chelsea in the Premier League. He was impressive with the Azzurri in the Euro 2016, whom he guided to the quarter-final, only to lose against Germany on penalties.

But Conte took credit for claiming the scalps of Belgium and Spain, who were completely outclassed and outplayed by Conte’s Italian team.

The former Chelsea manager didn’t exactly possess the brightest Italian squad at the time but he defied all odds with his brilliant game plan and tactical masterclass. Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in almost 50 years, which is a huge insult to the team.

Conte should certainly be signed as their new head coach as the Italian will surely use his knowledge and wisdom to take the team back to the top. He seems to be the perfect man to do so.
