Forget Benteke – 3 Replacements Liverpool Should Look To Sign As The Second Choice Striker

Liverpool and Christian Benteke were in the news for the right and the wrong reasons recently. The Big Belgian striker didn’t start the game against Crystal Palace but did come off the bench to “win” a penalty which he converted in the 96th minute of the game.

The win might have rekindled hopes for the Reds to make it into the UEFA Champions League by finishing fourth but the future of the former Aston Villa striker is still not clear at the Merseyside club.

Benteke does not seem to be the player that Jurgen Klopp wants to start with in most games since Divock Origi has become the go to guy in place of Daniel Sturridge. It certainly seems likely that the striker will be leaving Liverpool in the next transfer window and we provide three replacements for the 25-year-old.

Alexander Meier

We all know that Klopp does like to play with a false nine or ten in most games, especially away from home. We have seen how Roberto Firmino has grown under Klopp and the German could well move to the Bundesliga to get another player in.

Alexander Meier was the top scorer in the Bundesliga during the 2014-15 season and at 33-years-old, he might be willing to move for one last shot at glory. He won’t play every game and he would know that, who knows, he could be the effective plan B that Liverpool have required for a long, long time.
