Two Strikers Who Newcastle Can Sign Before Transfer Deadline Day

Although Dwight Gayle has not let Newcastle down, the club have been looking for another striking option all summer and have hit a bit of a wall.

Sandro Ramirez was a real option and so was Andre Gray recently. But either because of the reservations Benitez has about the Burnley striker, or the amount being asked by the club which Wolves are willing to pay, Newcastle look to be going in a different direction.

Here we look at two others who could still arrive on Tyneside if the board will stump up the money to get the deals done:

Lucas Perez (Arsenal)

Strangely, Arsenal seem keen to let Perez leave, now that they have affirmed their stance with Alexis Sanchez. The Spaniard could be a wonderful signing for someone in the Premier League. Perez is under contract at the Emirates until 2020 and so a reasonable fee will be needed to land him. But the North London club’s willingness to get him off their books will certainly help in that regard.

Perez is supremely talented and would fit in nicely at Newcastle, playing for his fellow countryman. In his very limited games last season, Perez hit 3 goals from 2 starts out on the right and another goal and assist from 2 starts up front. He knows his stuff and would bring proper quality to the club.

Angel Correa (Atletico Madrid)

It seems like a very unlikely deal given that he’d be expensive and that Atletico cannot buy for the time being. So the need arises for them to keep what quality they have in the squad.

However, he could be a player who could spring to prominence playing down the middle, which is something he has not been allowed to do too often thus far. 8 of his starts last season were down the right-hand side and just 4 were down the middle, though he makes an impact at wherever he plays.

Correa scored 4 goals and created 8 last season in La Liga from 31 games, though it must be remembered that 21 of those appearances were from the bench, showing that his impact can be instant.

Correa has tons of potential and much like many other players who have come into the Premier League from the continent in the past, he could improve vastly if given the chance to play as a striker rather than as a winger.
