Forget Ahmed Musa: It Is Time Craig Shakespeare Look To Sign Any Of These 2 Quality Replacements For Leicester

Ahmed Musa

In May of 2016, Leicester City football club lifted the Premier League trophy for the first time ever under the management of Italian coach, Claudio Ranieri. The club achieved something that most people might never have imagined in their life. Following their League triumph, plenty was expected from the club with Champions League football and the influx of cash.

The club managed to rope in some big name players one of which being Nigerian international, Ahmed Musa for £16million. The former AS Monaco striker was brought in as competition for Jamie Vardy and to help the club progress in the Champions League. But the 25-year-old striker failed to make an impression in England as well as for the club.

With the change of management at the King Power Stadium which saw Craig Shakespeare take over from Claudio Ranieri, plenty of other changes also came about. Jamie Vardy once again became a regular for the club and started to notch in some goals and with three more years left on his contract, Leicester City are now willing to let go of Ahmed Musa. Let’s take a look at two players who could effectively replace Ahmed Musa at Leicester.

Iago Aspas

The 29-year-old Spanish striker has enjoyed a brilliant season at Celta Vigo scoring 19 goals in La Liga alone. With 26 goals across all competitions, Aspas was the highest scoring Spaniard in Europe. His accuracy and decision making make him a suitable striker for the club as well. In a Liverpool squad that had the likes of Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge it was quite difficult for Aspas to make a mark for himself. But the one forgettable season in the Premier League with Liverpool, Aspas could get a second opportunity to make an impression with Leicester City.

Joshua King

The 25-year-old former Manchester United player enjoyed his best season in the Premier League with 16 goals for Bournemouth last term. The Norway international has scored against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton and his former club Manchester United last season. King is a naturally gifted striker with both pace and physicality at his helm. The Norwegian striker paired up well with Benik Afobe to help Bournemouth survive the relegation battle and give the Cherries another season in the Premier League. King’s performances have caught the attention of several big clubs in the League including the likes of Tottenham. The striker currently under contract with Bournemouth until 2020.
