Five Transfers that Could Take Place on Transfer Deadline Day: Manchester United and Chelsea to Get their Men?

And all of a sudden everything has just gone cold. The madness that is the transfer window has slowed down with most of the clubs taking a rather cautious approach for their next set of signings. One thing that will take place, sooner or later, is a mad rush to complete a few signings before the end of the transfer window. The last day for transfer activity till the winter break has become somewhat of a crazy spectacle which sees a lot of coverage and madness. With clubs having tons of money to spend we look at five transfers that could take place on transfer deadline day.

David de Gea

The longest running saga which does not seem to end, David de Gea was expected to sign for Real Madrid, but they did not take Louis van Gaal’s stubbornness into account. The Manchester United manager has been relentless in stating that De Gea is not for sale but that could all change as De Gea would be a free agent next season and making some money from this deal is better than making no money at all.

John Stones

The need to find the next John Terry has seen Chelsea bid increasing amounts to pry Stones from Everton but similar to Manchester United’s stance on De Gea, Everton have rejected every bid from Chelsea. The Blues have bid £40 million for the youngster and the deal could extremely important as Chelsea try to plug a leaky defence. Everton might be holding out for a larger amount and this deal could be just one of the two big ones the London club are lining up.

Paul Pogba

The other signing that Chelsea could be on the verge of completion on the last day of the transfer window is that of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. The French international hasn’t said much about moving away from Turin, but the club have always stated that the star is for sale as long as the right price is offered. Would Juventus be willing to lose out on their star after the likes of Tevez and Pirlo left the club? That will be something to keep an eye on, Chelsea have the financial power to even turn Juventus’ heads.

Saido Berahino

The West Bromwich Albion striker has been subject to a move to Tottenham but Tony Pulis has stated that the young striker is not for sale. Berahino, however has been dropped by the team for recent games, since his mind is not in the right place. We all know what that means, Tottenham just have to stump up their bid for the English striker, and if they do land the deal it would make an exciting partnership with Harry Kane and Berahino lighting up White Hart Lane.

Charlie Austin

With Berahino expected to join Spurs, West Bromwich Albion could head out for a proven goal scorer in Charlie Austin. The 26-year-old enjoyed a great season for QPR last year but could not help the team avoid the drop. He might have started playing in the Championship this season, but he could be the player to replace Berahino for Tony Pulis’ side. He has also been linked with a move to a new look Newcastle and he has the talent to play in the Premier League.
