Finishing Second In Group Stage Is Good – Mourinho

Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund played out an entertaining Champions league clash at the Bernabeu last night and Ozil’s last minute strike tied the game ending the match 2-2. Speaking after the match Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho was not bothered by his side’s performance against the German Champions despite having had to come back from 2-1 down.

Mourinho not bothered by second place finish

With two matches remaining, Ozil’s strike made sure the Galacticos remained at touching distance from leaders Dortmund. Mourinho, though, feels there is not too much difference between finishing first or second in the group, stating that both times he has previously lifted the European Cup it has been after being seeded second after the group stages.

“The two times I won the Champions League I finished second in the group,” the Portuguese tactician said after the Bernabeu encounter. With Porto we were second and Real Madrid were first and we went on to play Manchester United and we got through. “With Inter we got Chelsea in the last 16. Chelsea out and we progressed. I am not superstitious but this makes me think that it doesn’t matter whether you are first or second.”
