SoccerSouls Fantasy Premier League Scout – Gameweek 3
The Goalkeepers
1. Alex McCarthy –
The new Crystal Palace number one comes second to Adrian in the total saves list (Total 9 saves). McCarthy is really a cheap option at 4.0. Crystal Palace is playing Aston Villa at home and Villa has not been able to replace Christian Benteke properly. Aston Villa will find it difficult to score against the in-form Crystal Palace side.
Crystal Palace has failed to keep a clean sheet in their first two matches but a clean sheet against Aston Villa looks likely. McCarthy cannot be called a proper differential player because he has got 9.2% ownership.
2. Darren Randolph-
Randolph is West Ham’s one of the latest signings. He was brought from Birmingham for a free transfer and he was clearly expected to be an understudy to current West Ham number one, Adrian. We saw Carl Jenkinson wearing the gloves for West Ham last week against Leicester. The reason behind it was that Adrian got red carded and West Ham had already used all three of their subs, but this week it will be the new summer signing, Randolph, in the between the sticks. West Ham will be playing Bournemouth at home and Bournemouth has not scored a goal yet in the premier league this season. Randolph is rated at 4.5 and is owned by only 0.1% of FPL managers.
The Defenders
1. Luke Shaw-
Shaw is the cheapest defender in the Manchester United team who is guaranteed to play. The Red Devils have kept two clean sheets in two games and this week they are playing Newcastle at home. That looks like another clean sheet for Manchester United. Shaw was first rated at 5.5, but it rose to 5.6 this week. He is owned by 9.6% of the FPL managers and hence cannot be called a proper differential. Daryl Janmaat of Newcastle is suspended and Newcastle’s Right Wing (Luke Shaw’s Left Wing) will be weak, so this may help Shaw to get an assist or at least excel in his offensive game which may earn him bonus points.
2. Kyle Naughton-
Swansea’s Naughton is rated at 5.0 and is owned only by 0.4% of the FPL managers. Swansea is playing Sunderland away. Though Sunderland has lost two of their opening games, they did not fail to score at least one goal in each match, but in-form Swansea will probably get a clean sheet from this game.
The Mid-Fielders
1. Jefferson Montero-
Montero is the second Swansea player on the list, but this week looks like Montero’s week. The Sunderland defense will probably shatter into pieces in front of Montero’s pace. The Swansea mid-fielder is rated at 6.0 and is owned only by 2.2% of the FPL managers.
2. Wilfried Zaha-
The second Crystal Palace player on the list, but the probability of Zaha scoring or at least assisting a goal against Aston Villa is too high. The mid-fielder is rated at 5.5 and is owned by 3.8% of the FPL managers. Zaha has scored a goal already this season.
The Strikers
1. Troy Deeney-
Watford scored two goals against Everton and managed to get a point out of that game. The same Everton thrashed Southampton 3-0 last week. Now Watford are playing Southampton at home and I expect Deeney to get some FPL points this week. The Southampton defense is nothing like last season after the exits of Clyne, Alderweireld and Schneiderlin and they will probably concede at least a goal against Watford and Deeney will be involved in it. Bertrand’s absence will also be a huge disadvantage to Southampton and its defense. Deeney is rated at 5.5 (which is quite cheap for a striker) and is owned by 6.6% of the FPL managers.
2. Mame Diouf-
The Stoke forward is rated at 6.5 and is owned only by 2.8% of the FPL owners. He scored his first goal of the season against Spurs last week. Stoke is playing Norwich this week and he is likely to be on the score sheet again, especially with the arrival of Shaqiri at Stoke.
Risky Player of the Week – Madibo Maiga
Andy Carroll, Enner Valencia and Mauro Zarate will not be available for West Ham as all of them are injured, so Maiga will probably play along with Diafra Sakho upfront for West Ham. We cannot be sure that he will start and we can also be sure that he will score, but he is rated at only 4.5 and is owned only by 0.4% of the FPL managers. If you are a risk taker, then go for it. Bring Maiga into your team and watch West Ham’s match on Saturday.

Some players like Graziano Pelle is missing in the list, even though the probability of them scoring is higher than some players on the list, because one reason or the other. If you have money and if you want to play it safe, go for any Chelsea defenders, they are very much likely to keep a clean sheet and also has a high chance of scoring bonus points. The most sensible captain according to me would be Sergio Aguero, but he would be the captain of many, so I would advice you to go for Montero. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
