Another set of Premier League fixtures are done with results changing the complexion of the table as always. From FPL managers’ point of view, it was probably one of the lowest-points scored week for majority of them (average points – 37).
In terms of results, Manchester United held runaway leaders Liverpool to a 1-1 draw, while champions Manchester City returned to winning ways. Chelsea got a narrow win over Newcastle, but Tottenham dropped points at home to Watford and Arsenal lost at Sheffield United.
Leicester City continued their good start to the season with a win over Burnley, and Everton got themselves out of the bottom three with a crucial win over West Ham.
Wolves-Southampton and Bournemouth-Norwich City played out stalemates.
Now, below we review this gameweek’s results from FPL viewpoint and take a look at the stars and flops:
Jack Grealish scored one and assisted one in Aston Villa’s come from behind 2-1 win over Brighton. Danny Ings and Raul Jimenez continued their good form with goals against each other’s teams.
Marcus Rashford returned to some form with a goal against Liverpool. Marcos Alonso, who was this gameweek’s differential captain leader, scored a goal and also kept a clean sheet against Newcastle.
Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson scored resurgent Everton, while Jamie Vardy continued his good form with a goal against Burnley.
Dean Henderson, Ederson, Kepa and Jordan Pickford kept clean sheets over this gameweek. So, six points plus save bonus for them.
Some of the unlikely stars were – Adam Lallana scoring a late equaliser for Liverpool, while Lys Mousset scored against Arsenal.
Sadio Mane was in the FPL team of most managers, however, the Liverpool star failed to deliver in absence of Mohamed Salah.
Sergie Aguero was also there in most teams, but Pep Guardiola had Gabriel Jesus starting over him against Palace.
Strikers Sebastian Haller, Harry Kane, Tammy Abraham, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Callum Wilson drew blank against their respective opponents.
