Fantastic Wanyama – The Best And The Worst Rated Tottenham Hotspur Players vs Manchester United

Full Time: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur waved goodbye to the White Hart Lane in style with a 2-1 win over rivals Manchester United in the Premier League.

It did not take long for the Lilywhites to get going as Victor Wanyama buried the ball into the net with a strong header in the 6th minute. Harry Kane doubled their advantage three minutes into the second period, with a lovely finish. United threatened a comeback late in the game, with Wayne Rooney pulling one back, but Tottenham held on to bring the curtains down to the White Hart Lane era with a very good win.

The victory confirmed Tottenham’s second-placed finish in the Premier League, first time that has happened since 1962-63 season. They bid their farewell to the Lane in style having been unbeaten at home in the Premier League throughout the season with 17 wins and two draws. Here is how the Tottenham players fared on the day:

Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings

Hugo Lloris – 6/10

Had very little to do for most of the game as United rarely threatened. No chance for the goal.

Kieran Trippier – 7/10

Another impressive performance from the Englishman. Beaten in the build up to the goal, but apart from that was solid, before being taken off injured.

Toby Alderweireld – 7/10

Aggressive in his defending, quick out of the blocks to thwart any danger and accurate with his distribution.

Jan Vertonghen – 7/10

Commanding display from the Belgian alongside his compatriot. Dealt well with Anthony Martial for most of the first period.

Ben Davies – 7/10

Impeccable cross for Wanyama’s opener. As solid as they come at left-back.

Eric Dier – 7/10

Patrolled the midfield areas as well, stepped into the backline in times of need. Solid as ever.

Victor Wanyama – 8/10

Rose above Rooney to head home with aplomb for the opener. Did the dirty work in the midfield well, while always looking to get forward when his team attacked. Booked late on for a foul on Martial.

Christian Eriksen – 7/10

His deliveries into the box, both from set-pieces and open play were just brilliant. Some neat touches and interplay.

Dele Alli – 7/10

Gave the United defence a hard time with his running and energy. Won the free-kick leading to Kane’s goal. Always a threat.

Son Heung-Min – 6.5/10

Looked a real danger down the left-flank. But should have scored after he found himself through on goal in the first half.

Harry Kane – 7/10

Doubled his side’s lead with an audacious flick from a free-kick. His first goal against Manchester United and it couldn’t have come on a better day.
