Fantastic Milner, Solid Van Dijk – Here’s how the Liverpool stars fared in the thrilling 1-1 draw vs Arsenal

Liverpool Player Ratings vs Arsenal: Here’s how the Reds fared

Liverpool had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium as both teams played out an enthralling contest. The Reds opened the scoring through James Milner, who smashed home the rebound from Bernd Leno’s save.

The Reds also saw Sadio Mane’s goal disallowed and Virgil Van Dijk hit the bar as a number of chances fizzed past them. Arsenal left it late when Alexandre Lacazette dragged Alisson out of line before turning inside and curling home the equaliser. It was certainly a game of two teams that went for it but ultimately had to share the spoils.

Liverpool Player Ratings

Alisson Becker (7/10)

Made a couple of superb saves but should have moved back to his line after coming out for Lacazette’s goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (6/10)

Arnold defended well at times but did seem to get caught out of position as well. He made a couple of important clearances.

Virgil Van Dijk (7/10)

He was superb on the night and made a number of vital tackles. The Dutchman was unfortunate not to find the back of the net.

Joe Gomez (7/10)

The English defender was also very good on the night and partnered Van Dijk well at the back.

Andrew Robertson (7/10)

Daunted up and down and worked hard all game. However, he too was caught out of position on one or two occasions.

Georginio Wijnaldum (6/10)

Was barely visible in this game but came out to play a few simple, neat passes.

Fabinho (5/10)

Gave away the ball on a few occasions and was lucky not to be sent off for a second sloppy challenge on Mesut Ozil.

James Milner (7/10)

Scored the goal for Liverpool and defended tirelessly on the night. A gem of a midfielder.

Mohamed Salah (6/10)

Tried his best but was unable to score on the night. He linked up well in the final third.

Mohamed Salah

Roberto Firmino (5/10)

The Brazilian just hasn’t found his scoring form yet. He really needs to get a goal to build his confidence.

Sadio Mane (6/10)

Used his pace to cause all sorts of problems and came close to scoring on one or two occasions. He was otherwise dealt with easily.

Substitutes

Xherdan Shaqiri (5/10)

Didn’t get the ball much and played out a couple of routine passes.
