Fantastic Lonergan – The Best And The Worst Rated Leeds Players From The Game vs Reading

Full Time: Leeds United 0-1 Reading

Leeds United crashed to a third consecutive defeat in the EFL Championship, when they were beaten 1-0 by Reading, at the Elland Road, on Saturday.

In what was very much a subdued encounter, former Whites loanee Modou Barrow put the visitors ahead in the 85th minute. Leeds had a chance to ensure they got a point from the game, when they were awarded a penalty in the stoppage time, but playmaker Pablo Hernandez had his effort saved from the spot.

Leeds now sit 6th in the Championship table, with 20 points from 12 games. In what was a disappointing result for Thomas Christiansen’s side, let’s see who stood out and who performed poorly for the Whites.

Leeds United Player Ratings

Andy Lonergan – 7/10

Made a great save to deny Sone Aluko in the first-half. And made another quality stop after the break. Justified his selection.

Luke Ayling – 6/10

Had some good bursts forward and showed the right attitude. But he was given some tests by Barrow once he came on.

Pontus Jansson – 5/10

Never really looked like he was in the game. Did put himself about and effected a few clearances, but wasn’t at his usual level.

Liam Cooper – 5/10

The captain also had an off day alongside his defensive partner. The passing game from the back doesn’t really suit him.

Gaetano Berardi – 6/10

A decent display. Had a few good moments going forward and was reasonably secure at the back as well.

Eunan O’Kane – 6/10

Could not offer the control and the stronghold he had been offering during the initial games of the season. No lack of effort though.

Kalvin Phillips – 5/10

Could not have any sort of impact in the middle of the park. Seems to be struggling after a solid start to the season and maybe it is time the manager considers bringing Ronaldo Vieira into the team.

Kemar Roofe – 4.5/10

Never really got going and spent the majority of the game on the fringes. More is expected from the former Oxford United man.

Samu Saiz – 6/10

Looked the most likely to make things happen when he got the ball, but did not see the ball as much as he would’ve liked to. Won the late penalty.

Pablo Hernandez – 5/10

Did not offer a great deal of threat down the left-hand side and his penalty miss late in the game was criminal.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 5/10

Came the closest to scoring in the first period, but saw his headed effort get saved. Not a lot for him to work with and was marshaled well by the visitors’ defence.

Substitutes

Hadi Sacko – 6/10

Replaced Roofe in the 67th minute and added a sense of urgency to the forward line.

Jay-Ray Grot – 6/10

Came on for Lasogga in the 77th minute. Looked bright in patches.

Stuart Dallas – N/A

Came on for Berardi in the final minute of normal time.
