Fantastic Firmino – The Best And The Worst Rated Liverpool Players From The Pulsating 3-3 Draw vs Arsenal

Final Score: Arsenal 3-3 Liverpool

When Liverpool and Arsenal took to the field last night, many people may have expected the match to end in a draw – but for it to end in such an intense draw as the lead kept going back and forth is hardly something fans of either side might have expected.

To be honest, though, the Merseysiders had a golden two-goal lead initially but a mistake-laden performance saw them gift an equaliser to the Gunners.

Now, both teams have received one point each, so their standings in the league table have not been particularly affected by this outcome. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how Liverpool players fared in the game.

Liverpool Player Ratings

Simon Mignolet – 5/10

Mignolet let Liverpool down right when they needed him. Barring the goals from Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, he should have at least tried harder to stop Granit Xhaka’s strike. It was a nervy performance from him on a day when he was needed to be at his best.

Joe Gomez – 6.5/10

Gomez looked strong at first but a moment of weakness from the right-back allowed Sanchez to capitalise and score Arsenal’s first goal.

Dejan Lovren – 6/10

A bit conflicted as to how to rate him. He was great in the first half and even helped keep Alexandre Lacazette at bay. However, he only seemed overwhelmed in the second half and allowed Ozil to penetrate the back line quite easily.

Ragnar Klavan – 6/10

A similar situation ensued with Klavan as well. He was solid in the first half and read the game quite maturely. In the second half though, he barely did anything as the Gunners fired on. Neither Klavan nor Lovren could establish defensive control in the later stages.

Andy Robertson – 6.5/10

Robertson surprisingly got forward quite a lot and even found Firmino with an excellent ball in the first-half. It was not a bad display from him but he was responsible for giving away the ball in the build-up to Arsenal’s third goal.

Jordan Henderson – 5/10

Henderson did not last for even 10 minutes, having sustained what seemed like a hamstring injury while chasing Ozil. Was replaced by James Milner.

Emre Can – 7/10

Can adjusted quickly with Milner in the midfield. Much like a lot of Liverpool players, he was impressive in the first half but faltered in the second. He provided the assist for Firmino’s equaliser later on.

Philippe Coutinho – 8/10

Coutinho’s headed goal was brilliant and he controlled the game quite well even though he was deployed in a slightly deeper role.

Mohamed Salah – 7.5/10

His pace caused several problems for the Gunners. He teed up Coutinho for the opener and then scored a goal to gift the Reds a two-goal lead.

Sadio Mane – 7/10

Mane was not at his best but he did his duty well enough to ensure his teammates benefited.

Roberto Firmino – 9/10

Firmino looked menacing enough to score a hat-trick but he eventually had to settle for just one. However, he teed up Salah for his goal and kept pressing up front.

Subs:

James Milner – 7/10

Milner grabbed the opportunity with both hands and did quite well defensively as well as in the attack. He was involved in Coutinho’s and Salah’s goals.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 6/10

He was pretty solid and was quite effective in terms of counter-attacking.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – N/A

Came on with hardly 5 minutes to go.
