Fantastic Firmino – The Best And The Worst Rated Liverpool Players From The 3-0 Win vs Huddersfield

Full Time: Liverpool 3-0 Huddersfield

Jurgen Klopp’s half-time team talk at Anfield seemed to have done more to his squad than what he has done the whole week in training, as a lacklustre Liverpool side managed to pull off a tremendous result against a well-drilled Huddersfield Town side on Saturday.

Mohamed Salah missed a penalty in the first-half and it all looked gloomy as Liverpool went into half-time break at 0-0. However, Daniel Sturridge marked a rare league start with the 100th goal of his career, as he broke the deadlock, just a few minutes into the second half. Roberto Firmino and Georginio Wijnaldum also joined the act as Liverpool managed a 3-0 victory, keeping their home form intact.

Here’s how the Liverpool players fared on the night:

Liverpool Player Ratings

Simon Mignolet (6)

Had literally nothing to do on probably one of the easiest nights for the Belgian.

Joe Gomez (8)

One of the best players for Liverpool as he constantly won the ball back and was an ever-present figure for his team.

Joel Matip (6)

Should have got a couple of goals from corners but had a rather comfortable night at the back.

Ragnar Klavan (6)

Saw a lot of the ball and was hardly tested as the Terriers failed to put together any attack of note.

Alberto Moreno (6)

Stuck to his task well and made a number of interceptions as Liverpool played without a natural winger ahead of him.

Jordan Henderson (5)

Created a couple of half chances but was just too lethargic in possession for most periods in the game.

James Milner (6)

Put in a solid shift in the middle of the park and also picked up the assist for Firmino’s goal.

Georginio Wijnaldum (7)

A thunderous strike capped off a solid performance for the Dutchman, who was hard to catch all night, with his swift turns and runs.

Mohamed Salah (7)

His pace was too hot to handle at times but the Terriers did extremely well to keep him away from scoring. Missed a penalty which might haunt him for days.

Roberto Firmino (8)

The man of the match for Liverpool, Firmino, won an early penalty, played a role in Sturridge’s opener and also found the back of the net, in what was a perfect outing for the Brazilian.

Daniel Sturridge (7)

Though not too effective in build-up play, he was at the right place, at the right time, and helped Liverpool score their first goal, with a cool finish.

Subs:

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain (7)

Looks a Liverpool player more and more by the day as he put in the hard yards when the visitors started to wither.

Emre Can (6)

Came on to add mettle to the midfield and did well to keep the pressure on Huddersfield Town.

Dominic Solanke (7)

Was bright and energetic in the final few minutes of the game.
