Fantastic Alli, Disappointing Sanchez – The Best And The Worst Rated Tottenham Players vs Swansea

Final Score: Swansea City 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham beat Swansea City 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium last night, to get 3 points closer to catching 4th-placed Liverpool. Fernando Llorente and Dele Alli scored goals to secure a win for Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino will be happy to have started 2018 on a victorious note. This result also means that the North London club have now won three consecutive games and are edging close to breaking into the top four.

Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings

Hugo Lloris – 7/10

Denied Narsingh’s effort in the second half and was quite solid. Ayew threatened at one point but Lloris should be thankful for Davies’ tackle which stopped the player from scoring.

Kieran Trippier – 6/10

Trippier seemed to struggle majorly against Swansea’s wingers. Ayew and Olsson, in particular, caused him trouble and he could not do much to get forward. However, he was decent when it came to defending.

Davinson Sanchez – 5/10

Made a dangerous challenge on Olsson despite being booked already. The player was eventually replaced by Victor Wanyama.

Jan Vertonghen – 8/10

Vertonghen made some important blocks and maintained possession as well. He was also responsible for keeping Nathan Dyer in check.

Ben Davies – 6/10

Davies did a good job at keeping Ayew from scoring but seemingly struggled against Narsingh.

Eric Dier – 7/10

Dier was effective in the build-up play and played quite well despite being shifted to the defence once Sanchez was taken off the field.

Erik Lamela – 6/10

There were certain occasions where Lamela looked quite strong but then he failed to put up a good show when it was needed the most.

Christian Eriksen – 7/10

Teed up Llorente for the opening goal and his set-pieces have improved. Besides that, it was a rather subdued performance from Eriksen.

Dele Alli – 8/10

Alli is slowly but surely returning to his best and that was visible last night. He relentlessly covered ground while running and contributed to the defence. Eventually, his quick reflexes helped him score on the rebound.

Heung-Min Son – 6/10

He seemed to be struggling with the conditions but he put in his effort nevertheless. However, he was far from his best.

Fernando Llorente – 7.5/10

Netted a goal and that is likely to improve his confidence. However, some replays did show that the goal was offside. Besides that, he did his best to keep pace with his teammates and put in a good effort.

Subs:

Victor Wanyama – 6/10

Made an important clearance and Spurs are likely to be boosted by his return hereafter.

Harry Kane – 6/10

Set up Alli for the second goal but could not do much besides that.

Moussa Sissoko – 6/10

Sissoko replaced Lamela and brought about some solidity in the midfield to keep Swansea’s threats at bay.
