Excellent Saiz – The Best And The Worst Rated Leeds Players From The 3-0 Win vs Bristol City

Full Time: Bristol City 0-3 Leeds United

Leeds United managed to break their three-match losing streak, when they defeated Bristol City 3-0, away at the Ashton Gate, on Saturday.

Coming into the game under some amount of pressure, the Whites were off the blocks early, as Samu Saiz found the back of the net, after being sent through by Pierre-Michel Lasogga in just the fourth minute. The Spaniard was on the mark again 11 minutes later, smashing home from 12 yards out to make it 2-0.

Lasogga made it three in the second-half, flicking a header into the net, from a corner kick in the 67th minute. Gaetano Berardi saw a red card late in the game, along with City’s Matty Taylor, but that did not have any impact on the result as Leeds came out as comfortable winners.

Here’s how the Leeds players fared against the Robins:

Leeds United Player Ratings

Andy Lonergan – 7/10

Not a lot to do in goal and made one decent stop in the second-half. Distribution also was much-improved from last game.

Luke Ayling – 7/10

Solid at the back, supported well when his team went forward, against his former club. A steady display from the right-back.

Matthew Pennington – 8/10

Fielded ahead of Pontus Jansson in the line-up, the Evertonian totally justified his selection with a very assured display.

Liam Cooper – 7/10

One mistake in the second period aside, the captain too was extremely solid. Led by example, kept shouting out instructions.

Gaetano Berardi – 5/10

Could have conceded a penalty in the first-half, but grew into the game, until he was shown a red card for headbutting Taylor, in a moment of frenzy.

Eunan O’Kane – 8/10

Bounced back strongly with a highly impressive performance after last weekend’s let down. His through ball led to the second goal for the Whites.

Ronaldo Vieira – 8/10

Made a huge difference to the team. Was all over the pitch and made sure he never really allowed City to get control of the midfield.

Kalvin Phillips – 9/10

Vieira’s inclusion had a great effect on Phillips’ game as it gave him the licence to get forward, which he did brilliantly. Passing was on the money and was easily one of Leeds’ best players on the day.

Ezgjan Alioski – 7/10

Showed signs of growing back into his initial form, after some ordinary displays in the past few weeks. Linked up well in the final third with Saiz.

Samu Saiz – 9/10

Leeds’ best player on the day, and it has been the case on so many occasions this season. Took the game away with an early blitz in the first-half, where he scored twice. Should have had his hat-trick, but fired wide.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 8/10

After a below par display against Reading last week, the German stepped up brilliantly, setting up one and scoring another. Impressive.

Substitutes

On for Alioski in the 70th minute. Did little of note.

Replaced Saiz for the last six minutes.
