Derby County returned to winning ways as they beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 away at the Hillsborough stadium in a fine Saturday afternoon game. Adam Reach gave the home side an early lead in the 12th minute, however, the Rams responded by scoring twice in the space of six minutes to turn the game around.
Harry Wilson netted one in the 29th minute and Jack Marriot’s goal in the 35th minute completed the comeback. Frank Lampard’s men then held onto that lead after the break. This win keeps Derby in sixth position in the table, in the race for Premier League promotion.
Here’s how they fared in the game today:
Couldn’t do much to save the goal but the experienced keeper wasn’t really tested apart from than that.
It was his first start in three months, hence, there was a bit of rustiness. But he played a big part in Derby’s equaliser, which would have enhanced his confidence.
A solid performance from the centre-back who dug in deep in the second half to help the team secure three points.
Struggled from the first whistle and was lucky not to be sent off. Was deservedly replaced at half time.
The left-back was a bit shaky early on but settled as the game went on.
The former Spurs man was a touch slow in possession, allowing the opposition to close to get back into their shape. He was splendidly denied a goal by Cameron Dawson.
First start after a while and he flittered in and out of the game. It’s good that Wednesday didn’t test the Derby midfield much.
Came back after injury and had one or two moments of brilliance. He had a quiet afternoon otherwise.
A live wire in advanced midfield and showed excellent technique to score a fantastic goal.
A threat all game long to the Wednesday defence and supplied the assist for Marriot’s goal.
Scored a well-taken goal, hit the bar once and remained a threat throughout the game. Worked hard on and off the ball.
Replaced a train-wreck Tomori and brought security and calmness to the back line.
Came on for Mount who was struggling to impact the game.
