Everything You Need To Know About This 19-year Old Wonder kid Tracked By Arsenal And Liverpool

Share

German wonder-kids have been the talk of the town since the national side won the World Cup in Brazil. Germany has a factory of sorts which churns out great youngsters for almost every Bundesliga club and that is true for Schalke as well. The side have been blessed with a lot of talent, even though they lost one of the most talented players in the German team, Julian Draxler to rivals Wolfsburg, they still have a couple of players to count on.

We would be focusing on one such player, Leroy Sane, the 19-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder for the Bundesliga side and has been turning heads this season. Everyone will remember him making his debut in the Champions League against Real Madrid and scoring a goal when they almost knocked out the Spanish club. His performances have not gone unnoticed and he has now been linked with a move to the Premier League with Liverpool and Arsenal tracking his progress. We provide a look into who Leroy Sane is and why is he so highly rated?

Hugely talented and ready to hit the big time

Sane was born in the German city of Essen and started his youth career with SG Wattenscheid 09 in 2001. The German joined Schalke on a permanent basis in 2011 and then signed a long term contract up to 2017. He is a German U21 player and has made three appearances for the side and has scored three goals so far.

For Schalke though, he has made a total of 28 appearances so far and has scored eight goals for the club. He can play either as an attacking midfielder or a left winger but his preferred position is down the middle where he can be a greater influence in games.

Sane is blessed with impressive control, great acceleration and has an amazing shot in him. For someone who is so young, Sane does have great composure in front of goal. That coupled with a blistering strike is certainly going to take him places. With great attacking power there does come a bit of responsibility and although Sane does track back, he isn’t the best when it comes to dealing with the defensive aspect of the game.

The midfielder though also has another weakness when it comes to the positioning of his teammates and often moves away from his role to try and pick up the ball. Not that it is a bad thing, but it does affect the shape of the team when he leaves his position. This isn’t the worst thing for a 19-year-old but he would be expected to do a bit of defending later on in his career.

Sane isn’t the only young bright talent at Schalke. Meyer, Goretzka and Ayhan are all bursting with energy and certainly are names worth keeping a tab on for the future. Schalke has a great clutch of stars but can they keep them for long? That would be the question on everyone’s lips.
