Everton’s midfield woes would end if they manage to sign this £75k-a-week Man United star

Why Everton should make a move for Ander Herrera

Everton returned to winning ways against Crystal Palace after picking up a 2-0 win at the Goodison Park to hand the Toffees three consecutive wins for the first time in two years. Marco Silva’s men have made a refreshed start under the new manager and are proving to be a potent side this season.

The Merseyside club did bring in a couple of additions in the summer but one area they still seem to be lacking is the central midfield. Due to the below-par performances of Morgan Schneiderlin, Marco Silva has opted to play Tom Davies in central midfield.

Although Andre Gomes did well on his debut against Palace, Everton need another top central midfielder in their squad. One man the Toffees can take a look at is Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera.

According to the Metro, the Spaniard is willing to listen to offers in January after significantly dropping down the pecking order at Old Trafford. New manager Jose Mourinho is said to be keen to hold onto the £75,000-a-week midfielder but has barely utilised the 29-year-old so far.

Ander Herrera

Everton should definitely make a move for the player and must convince him by offering regular game time. He would be a great addition to the squad and would be an able midfield partner for Idrissa Gueye.

The Toffees have lacked a disciplined central midfielder capable of seamlessly distributing the ball in the middle of the park. Those are the qualities that Herrera possesses. He is a hard-working midfielder who is willing to take up any role needed by the manager.

While Gueye focuses on the defensive aspect and does the dirty work in the midfield, Herrera will receive ample space and time to ping the ball across the field. He possesses a wide range of passing and the ability to pick the passes in the final third.

The likes of Theo Walcott, Bernard and Richarlison will definitely thrive from Herrera’s long balls behind the defenders. What makes him an even more enticing option is his willingness to track back and support the defenders. Gueye can be assured that the former Bilbao midfielder will always be by his side when required.

While Everton already have a splendid set-piece specialist in Gylfi Sigurdsson, Marco Silva can also call upon Ander Herrera at times. He is a dead-ball specialist too and is capable of whipping in devilish deliveries into the box.

Everton must definitely make the move for the out of favour Manchester United midfielder. Given his quality, a number of teams are going to be tracking him and Marco Silva must ensure he makes the transfer.
