Everton winning the race to sign this Serie A midfield maestro would add some much-needed tenacity to their play

Everton opinion: Should the Toffees win the race for Franck Kessié?

According to reports from Calciomercato, Everton are still very interested in making a move for AC Milan star Franck Kessié. The Toffees may have signed Andre Gomes from Barcelona but it seems that their summer business may not be over.

The Italian report further adds that Everton are not the only side interested in a move and it’s why Everton have to win the race. An all-action midfielder, the 22-year-old can attack, defend and even dictate the play if needed, showing his versatility and talent.

However, it’s really as a box-to-box midfielder that the Ivory Coast star excels, flourishing in that role for Atalanta. His stamina combined with his work-ethic makes him perfect for the Premier League and it gives Everton a sliver of a chance to upgrade their side.

Unlike McCarthy and Tom Davies, Franck Kessié scores a few goals, averaging about five per season in his career so far. While it may be a slight issue, the 22-year-old more than makes up for it in other areas, including defensively.

Not just that, he’s often been used further forward to great effect, which is why he could also replace Gylfi Sigurdsson if needed. However, any move will cost a pretty penny.

They’ve struggled to do much with the few stars at their disposal. James McCarthy, Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin have struggled.

With time, however, it’s exactly where someone like Franck Kessié will become an integral part of their side and alongside Andre Gomes, it should be an effective partnership.

Everton need to move forward and the 22-year-old will be a sensational addition. The Toffees have lofty ambitions and to achieve that they need to add the right men.

By bringing in Marco Silva, the Toffees have shown just what they can do but that didn’t help them finish a European spot last season. They finished just one spot below newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers. A club like Everton just cannot afford to be content with this.
