Everton opinion – Toffees in for Adolfo Gaich – Good move?

According to a report in Liverpool Echo (h/t Marca), Premier League side Everton are set to bid for Adolfo Gaich after he impressed many during the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup.

It is suggested that the Toffees are willing to pay the release clause to bring the forward to Goodison Park during this transfer window. The release clause is around $15m and Italian side Genoa are also interested in the player. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

Gaich plies his trade for Argentine club San Lorenzo. He has already scored three goals and provided one assist in four U-20 World Cup games. This has further enhanced his reputation on the big stage, where scouts of various clubs come to see young and upcoming talents.

Toffees need more options up front

After a season under Marco Silva, it was well clear that Everton need a goal-scoring centre-forward in their squad to take the next step towards challenging for European football.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin did lead the line in the latter half of the campaign and performed well. However, he was more of a link-man rather than the one who would finish off the chances in and around the box.

Hence, the Toffees are right in looking to sign a new striker this summer. If they manage to pay the release clause of Adolfo Gaich, Silva’s men would get a player who is ruthless in and around the opposition box.
