Everton signing this 22-year-old Championship hitman would be the ideal solution to Silva’s lack of strikers

Everton Opinion: Why Everton should sign Che Adams in the summer

The Liverpool Echo has reported that Everton have entered the race for Birmingham City star Che Adams, with the Toffees looking to reinforce their team. At the moment, they sit 11th, five points off a top-seven spot with just two wins in their last five games. This run includes losses to Watford, Newcastle United and a draw to Liverpool.

The 0-0 draw showcased exactly why Everton brought in Marco Silva, with the former Watford boss putting up a tactical masterclass to stall Liverpool’s title hopes.

It showcased the best of Silva, with Everton giving the Reds a run for their money. But the results have been far too inconsistent this season.

While there are other issues with the club, one of their main issues have been front, with the Toffees struggling to find a reliable goalscorer. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison have stepped up with 20-odd goals between them, but Everton’s two strikers have managed only eight.

That’s where the club have fallen short and also why a move for Che Adams should be made. The young forward is tough, tenacious and more importantly, clinical in front of the goal – three traits the Toffees need at the moment.

The 22-year-old has managed 21 goals so far this term, which is just three goals short of what both Sigurdsson and Richarlison have managed together. It blows both Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin out of the water, emphasizing why Everton need him.

Furthermore, while his goalscoring is on the show, Adams’ work ethic is an underrated quality. Barely 22, the English striker goes above and beyond for his team, doing his best to put pressure on the defensive line. This suits Marco Silva’s tactics as it does put an onus on his team from the front.

That’s why the former Watford boss brought in Bernard and even Richarlison, with the two wingers working hard this season. That is also why Cenk Tosun hasn’t suited Silva’s style of play since the 28-year-old flourishes in a more possession-based style of play.

This includes a slow build-up and that isn’t been the way Silva is trying to build his Everton.

Conclusion

Adding Che Adams won’t be an immediate solution but the 22-year-old will certainly be more effective than Dominic Calvert-Lewin. With time and the right guidance, the young striker will certainly grow leaps and bounds, honing his skills even more.
