Everton opinion: Marco Silva interested in Valentino Lazaro – a good choice?

According to a report by Italian outlet Calcio Napoli 24, Napoli face competition from Premier League duo Leicester City and Everton for the signing of Hertha Berlin’s Valentino Lazaro.

The report reveals that scouts from both Premier League clubs have continuously watched the 23-year-old in Hertha’s home games this season and are looking at a move in the summer.

Leicester solved their issues at right-back last summer with the signing of Ricardo Pereira from Porto. The marauding wide man has had an up and down season so far and Leicester could move in for Lazaro if Pereira does not improve in the coming days.

Everton, on the other hand, have had a bit of a crisis on the right flank. Jonjoe Kenny and Seamus Coleman have badly struggled to fit into Marco Silva’s system and Theo Walcott has been woeful in terms of goal contributions.

Lazaro would be an ideal fit at Everton and could do a brilliant job both as a winger and as a full-back. His versatility opens up a wide range of options for Marco Silva and would be an upgrade on all three of Everton’s right-sided players.

Lazaro joined Hertha Berlin from Austrian side RB Salzburg and has had a phenomenal debut campaign in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old has been directly involved in 7 goals in all competitions and has been an asset to Die Alte Dame so far this season.

In his 5 seasons in the Austrian league, Lazaro made a name for himself as an attacker. The youngster who came through the ranks at Salzburg featured on either wing and at right-back, and was incredibly effective in the attacking third.

His phenomenal pace combined with his skills and trickery on the ball allows him to get away from the defenders with considerable ease and his finishing is quite exquisite at times. The Austrian also possesses a hammer of a right foot and is capable of scoring bangers from outside the box.

Lazaro averages 1.7 tackles per game, 1.5 interceptions per game and a solid 2 clearances per 90 minutes so far this season in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old also boasts of 2 key passes per game and 1.9 long balls per game and a healthy 1.5 crosses per 90 minutes from the wings. (WhoScored)

Conclusion

Valentino Lazaro has the ability to replace 3 players for the price of one. The Austrian will be an incredible addition to the Toffees squad and under Marco Silva, he could improve massively to become on of the best in that role.
