Enough is enough: It’s time for this £46.5m star to wave goodbye to Man City and move on

Why Leroy Sane should make a move in search of regular football

It’s been a rough couple of months for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane. The 22-year-old went from winning the Premier League to being snubbed for the World Cup and now failing to play under Guardiola.

It’s a wonder how Joachim Low failed to pick Leroy Sane after the former Schalke winger scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists last season. His presence was definitely missed in Russia as Germany crashed out in controversial fashion. (Stats Courtesy – Premier League)

He has since gone on to become one of the most elegant players in the Premier League. Sane was in supreme form for the Cityzens last season and was one of their main driving forces going forward.

Not being picked for the World Cup would definitely surprise a player who won the Premier League in stunning fashion, but Sane once again proved his quality in pre-season. The 22-year-old was one of Manchester City’s star performers as he enjoyed a good summer.

Despite his impressive showings before the season began, Sane has failed to make a single start this season, with the German completely left out of the matchday squad last weekend. This could be because Guardiola has found a gem of a player in Benjamin Mendy who currently occupies Sane’s spot in the squad.

The Frenchman has been superb for the Champions so far, picking up 4 assists in 4 games. Mendy offers the team width and supply on the ball. His marauding runs have posed all sorts of problems for the opposition backline.

At the rate he’s going, it’s not a wonder that Leroy Sane has been kept out of the line-up. Mendy missed the majority of last season and was unable to make an impact in City’s fairytale title triumph.

It would be better for the German to seek a move away when the window opens in January. He has already won the Premier League once with Manchester City and can find a new challenge at another club.

Not only would they offer him first-team football on a regular basis but also the chance to take his career to the next level. Sane is at an age where he needs to keep playing constantly and nurture his talent.
