Leicester City opinion: Three replacements for Rachid Ghezzal
He arrived on the back of Riyad Mahrez’s departure to Manchester City and while Ghezzal had struggled at Monaco, many excepted him to flourish at Leicester City.
A very technical player, Ghezzal has since failed to do much of anything for the club, scoring just three goals in 23 appearances.
This includes just 19 in the Premier League, although a large majority of that saw him walk off the bench and struggle with the physicality of the English game. It’s one of the many reasons why the Foxes never finished in a Europa League spot.
Under Brendan Rodgers, the club is forming an identity but to do that first, he has to make sure he gets rid of all the deadwood. And as unfortunate and harsh as it sounds, Rachid Ghezzal’s struggles have made him one such player.
He has not been linked with an exit but Rodgers must offload the player and sign one of these 3 players as replacement instead:
Jacob Bruun Larsen
With Jadon Sancho ruling the roost at Borussia Dortmund, the other stars at the Signal Iduna Park side do go under the radar. Jacob Bruun Larsen is one such star and for Leicester City, the 20-year-old would arguably be the perfect forward to have.
Blessed with great speed, and surprising strength, he’s very hard to push off the ball. But combine that with his lethal eye for goal and it shows just why he would be great for the Foxes, plus at the age of 20, he’ll only improve going forward.
It’s one of the many reasons why Leicester City have a chance of winning the race for Jacob Bruun Larsen.
Once upon a time, Berardi was considered to be a potentially world-class footballer but injuries and inconsistent form saw him drop out of the face of the earth. It’s why he’s still at Saussolo at the age of 24 and it’s high time that some club grabs him.
Given that Leicester are still looking to replace the Algerian , Berardi would be a great shout. After all, what better way is it to replace Mahrez with a player eerily similar to him?
He finished the season with 9 goals and five assists, which is more than every Leicester City player barring Jamie Vardy. Combine that with a wide array of technical skills, it makes him a brilliant choice.
Ice cold, incredibly calm and very very quick off the mark, Jarrod Bowen has excelled in the second tier doing exceptionally well. He finished with 21 goals in 46 games, also adding four assists over the course of the campaign.
But what has been his main target has been scoring goals and the 22-year-old has done that with an ease that has shocked a few people. It’s why Leicester City has been linked with a move in the past.

But if the club are really serious about their hopes in the Premier League in the future, then this is a move that has to happen.
With time, the young winger will only grow and improve, and if he makes it in the Premier League, he’ll do it anywhere in the world.
