Enough is enough: Everton must break this £10m mismatch and offload 21-year-old on a permanent basis

Why Everton should offload Nikola Vlasic on a permanent basis

Nikola Vlasic is an Everton player but he is currently out on loan at CSKA Moscow. The Croat is expected to stay in Russia for the whole season and the decision about his future will be taken afterwards.

However, as per Russian outlet Russia 24, as quoted by SportBoxRU, CSKA chief Yevgeny Giner says that the initial talks were to keep the player for a year or two, with no option of a permanent move.

Furthermore, the chief said that the club might be interested in getting the attacking midfielder on a permanent deal now. He also mentioned that this will be a good move for the player as well.

Here’s why the Toffees should offload the player, if not in January, then in the next summer:

Nikola Vlasic

Everton’s quality in creative department & Vlasic’s struggles last year

Nikola Vlasic arrived at Goodison Park on the deadline day in the 2017 summer window for a price worth around £10m. However, he couldn’t stamp his slot in the team, neither under Ronald Koeman nor under Sam Allardyce.

The Croat played 12 league games (five of them from the bench) and six Europa League games (three of them from the bench). Those numbers are not enough for a player who was bought to add creativity to the team.

Upon the arrival of Marco Silva, Everton offloaded the player on loan after the end of the transfer window. By then, they had already bought Richarlison and Bernard to strengthen the creative areas of the pitch. The Toffees have the services of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott at their disposal as well.

In addition to the above, Vlasic seems to be a different player when playing for CSKA Moscow this season. He has scored three goals and supplied one assist in five Champions League games, netting three in 12 league games.

Marco Silva

Verdict

It is fairly evident that the 21-year-old is a fantastic player who is plying his trade to great effect in Russia. It was just that he didn’t settle down at Everton and maybe they are not the right club for him right now.

Hence, it will make sense from the Toffees viewpoint to offload the Croat on a permanent basis to the Moscow club, get some money and spend it elsewhere.
