Why This English International And Newcastle United Star Is Not The Right Choice For Arsenal

Arsenal seem set for a busy transfer window once again, but more than that they seem to have attracted the interested of a relegated player in Moussa Sissoko. The Newcastle United star has often been linked with a move away from the Magpies and with the club playing Championship football next season, he is one player that the side would want to get off their books, simply because his salary might be too much and he too wants to leave.

London seems to be his preferred destination as the 26-year-old plots his future in the Premier League, but for all his ability and midfield madness, the Gunners should not think about signing the midfielder. Moussa isn’t the worst player in the world; in fact, he might be one of the few gems that a few clubs should think of picking up the Frenchman who had a decent season with the club.

Sissoko might bring a lot of quality, but that is not what Arsenal needs as they have players such as Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla, who are raring to go next season after recovering from long-term injuries. They also have the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny who can do the job in midfield and also Francis Coquelin, who is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

Just where would the 26-year-old Sissoko fit in? He too would not want to be on the bench for a lot of time and moving to Arsenal would probably mean that he isn’t playing regular first team football for the Gunners and spending money on the Frenchman would only waste some space at the club, especially with the new signing of Granit Xhaka coming in, Arsenal are sorted for the midfield for a number of years.

Speaking of wasting some space at the club, the future of another player does seem to be on tenterhooks as Theo Walcott could also be on his way out simply because he isn’t good enough for the Gunners anymore.

The English star hasn’t been able to cement a place in the London team for years and for every good step he takes for the club, it seems injuries or bad luck takes it away from him. Walcott, though should have grabbed a few chances by now, but he ends up wasting it all and seems to be stagnating at the club, not the best thing to do at a Premier League side.

The 27-year-old hasn’t gotten any better for the Gunners and only scored nine goals in the last campaign. What was even worse was the fact that in the latter end of the season, a young upstart, Alex Iwobi was taking over the role on the wing for Arsenal.

Walcott might need to move to a new club to rekindle his career and it wouldn’t be a bad thing for him as the English winger does not provide enough quality to Arsenal and he needs to be sold as soon as possible.
