Emerson Hyndman Starts In Midfield – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Rangers Line-Up To Play Aberdeen

Predicted Rangers Lineup To Take On Aberdeen

Rangers’ last two games gave left fans disappointed. Two draws against Motherwell and Kilmarnock is less than what is expected by the Ibrox faithful.

Finding themselves 12 points now behind Aberdeen in the race for 2nd place, Rangers do at least have the perfect opportunity to close that gap by winning at Pittodrie. There’s nothing better than a clash between big rivals to bring out the best in players, so it would be no surprise to see Rangers up their game for this crucial fixture.

Expected Rangers Starting XI:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Pedro Caixinha

GK – Wes Foderingham

There’s no reason why the Premiership ever-present shouldn’t feature once again in goal. A sure starter considering the quality player that he is.

RB – James Tavernier

It’s good to see the marauding former Newcastle man back in the side in his best position; another starting berth beckons at right-back.

CB – David Bates

Having signed from Raith Rovers in January, the 20-year-old wasn’t expected to feature too heavily this season.  However, defensive woes continued for Rangers and the young man started at Rugby Park and may keep his place on Sunday as well.

CB – Danny Wilson

Probably he is Rangers’ best centre-back; the former Hearts defender can play again and attempt to get a partnership going with Bates. Clint Hill will be pressing for a return and hence Wilson will need to be at his best.

LB – Myles Beerman

With talismanic captain and regular left-back Lee Wallace injured, 18-year-old Beerman may continue. Born in Malta, Beerman arrived at the club in December on a free transfer from Manchester City and it’s good to see young players back in the Rangers side.

CM – Grant Holt

The midfield linchpin should continue in the centre and will once again go about his job in good style.

CM – Andy Halliday

Partnered Holt the other day and may be allowed to continue the midfield partnership. Hopefully, the combination continues to work well.

RW – Martyn Waghorn

Predictably Waghorn was moved back to this position by Caixinha at Kilmarnock and will most likely start there again.  He has big game experience and would be a miss in this type of situation if he is not picked.

CAM – Emerson Hyndman

Although he was subbed off in midweek, the young American is a valuable player and can cause damage. The on-loan youngster will be hoping to impress his suitors.

LW – Barrie McKay

Caixinha is still working out on who he fancies as first choice in some positions, but there’s no doubting that McKay is one of the most talented players in the squad.

ST – Kenny Miller

Like Waghorn, Miller has big game experience and in fact, no one in the squad can match his history. He’s not as mobile as he once was, but if a chance falls his way he will take it with aplomb. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he replaces Joe Garner up front.
