Celtic 5-0 St. Johnstone: The Hoops reach Scottish Cup quarterfinal in style
Celtic reached the Scottish Cup quarter-finals with an easy 5-0 win over St. Johnstone at Celtic Park this Sunday afternoon. Scott Sinclair scored a hat-trick, Scott Brown netted his first goal in a while and James Forrest was also on the scoresheet.
In the third minute of the game, Sinclair picked up possession around the six-yard box and hit a left-footed shot to the top-left corner to give the Hoops an early lead. After that, it was just one-way traffic for Brendan Rodgers’ men.
Captain Brown scored his first goal in a while with a fantastic hit from outside the box into the top corner in the ninth minute.
Seven minutes into the second half, Forrest was on the scoresheet with a right-footed shot that beat the Johnstone keeper. The assist was provided by Jonny Hayes.
Celtic quadrupled their lead two minutes later when Oliver Burke found Sinclair inside the box. The latter made no mistake in tucking that one in. He completed his hat-trick in the 89th minute with another good finish that was unstoppable.
Truth be told, the Hoops were dominant from minute one and the result was never in doubt. They are chasing a treble and are on course for it, having been top of the league for some time and with some gap now.
Here’s how the Celtic fans reacted on Twitter:

Today was as close to pure, beautiful, sweet football as you’ll see at Celtic Park. If only we could sign Burke who is so powerful and so strong. And Toljan too! He showed touches of sheer class today. That’s 100 goals scored, conceded none and nae penalties this year. Loving it.
