After the recent injury to Lionel Messi, his team-mate Neymar finally stepped up on Saturday night against Rayo Vallecano and confirmed that he can surely be Barcelona’s next idol. Though there were no doubts about his talents whatsoever, his performance showed how talented he really is, as he put in a world-class performance in the absence of a major star from the side.

With four goals in the game at the weekend, the 23-year-old forward went a long way to prove critics wrong.Though his summer preparations might have been somewhat disturbed by the interest from Premier League giants Manchester United, it has not really had an impact on his game, as it would seem now.

His commitment at the Nou Camp was never in doubts and both the player and his father have confirmed that many times. Though Neymar Sr. clarified the entire situation to Brazilian TV last week, Sport still asked the same questions once again regarding the whole situation with the Red Devils and he stated the same thing.

Neymar’s father talked about how Woodward had called the current La Liga and European champions regarding a deal, though it didn’t happen. He said, “They called Barcelona. They received an answer that Neymar had a contract with them and they wouldn’t sell him. People need to remain calm. Neymar still has three years of contract left.”
