Dream Watford line-up for 2018/19 season featuring 29-year-old West Brom star

Watford are currently placed 13th in the Premier League table. Given the quality and resources in the team, the Hornets have clearly underachieved.

After a brilliant start to the season under Marco Silva, Watford suffered a big blip and failed to recover, leading to the sacking of the Portuguese manager. Though Javi Gracia has steadied the ship to some extent, there will be a lot of work to be done for Watford to maintain Premier League status next term.

With just one game left to play in the season, here we bring you a dream Watford line-up for next season.

Watford Dream XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Javi Gracia

Orestis Karnezis (GK)

The on-loan Greek goalkeeper has done well between the sticks, keeping Heurelho Gomes on the bench.

Kiko Femenia (RB)

Femenia has been extremely composed at right-back and that has seen him make the position his own. The Spaniard never shies away from tackles and challenges, often looking to contribute to attacks.

Chancel Mbemba

Chancel Mbemba (CB)

Mbemba has rarely got into Newcastle’s first-team this season. He was one of the reasons for Newcastle’s promotion to the Premier League last year but due to the top form of Lascelles and Lejuene, the Congolese has been devoid of chances.

The 23-year-old is a no-nonsense defender and would certainly be a fantastic addition to the Watford ranks next season.

Christian Kabasele (CB)

A hamstring injury sustained in January saw Kabasele miss three months of football. Prior to his injury, he was one of the reliable defenders and should be raring to make a mark next season.

Marvin Zeegelaar (LB)

Zeegelaar has done decently at left-back, playing 12 games in his debut season with Watford. Next season would be a massive one for the Dutchman.

Etienne Capoue (CM)

Capoue has found his spark under Gracia but needs to maintain high consistency levels in his game to get into the first-team next season. The Frenchman has the ability to dictate the tempo of the game and pop up with the odd goal.

Tom Cleverley (CM)

Starting alongside the bulky Capoue should be Tom Cleverly. The former Manchester United man possesses a lot of qualities that would make Watford a better team next season. But first and foremost, Cleverley needs to maintain his fitness.

Tom Cleverley

Roberto Pereyra (RW)

Pereyra has been the creative force for Watford, creating and assisting plenty of goals this season. His work-rate and defensive contributions are impressive as he constantly tracks back to receive the ball from the defenders.

Will Hughes (CAM)

Hughes has failed to live up to the billing since arriving from Derby at the start of the season. However, he has come good in the last few weeks and Gracia must learn to utilise the diminutive midfielder well next season.

James McClean (LW)

If Richarlison leaves after just a season at Watford, Gracia must target West Brom’s James McClean. The 29-year-old is a pacey and tricky customer, capable of running past any player. He would also provide width and add a different dimension to Watford’s attack next term.

Andre Gray (ST)

Andre Gray must not be written off after failing to deliver the goods this season. He deserves a second chance and I am certain the striker will silence his naysayers.
