Dream Leicester Attacking Lineup For Next Season Featuring Their Star Transfer Target

Leicester City managed to survive the relegation scare just a year after they were crowned the Premier League Champions. Thanks to a late resurgence under caretaker boss Craig Shakespeare, they finished the season placed 12th.

However, they are set to lose their star attacker Riyad Mahrez in the upcoming summer window. The 26-year old Algerian international was their best player in the title-winning campaign and despite interests from several big clubs last summer, he decided to stay put at the King Power Stadium. He struggled to reproduce his form from the 2015/16 season this time around but still remains of interest to several top clubs.

It does seem likely that the Foxes will be without the Algerian talisman for the upcoming season. In that case, a new replacement will need to be bought in the summer, to fill in for the exit bound Mahrez and here’s how the Leicester attack may look like with one potential arrival in the transfer window:

Bruma (RW)

The Portuguese winger from Galatasaray has been linked with a move to the Premier League for quite some time now. And recently, his agent confirmed that Leicester City were one of the interested parties along with Southampton (ESPN). Bruma had a great season with the Turkish giants, finishing with 10 goals and 8 assists from 35 games across all competitions. Bruma has the raw pace and skills needed to be a valuable addition for the Foxes.

Danny Drinkwater (CM)

Has been the midfield mainstay for the past two seasons now and it is unlikely to change anytime soon. The 27-year old knits the play for Leicester from the middle of the park and is an extremely vital cog in the team. He is immovable from the line-up.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM)

The 20-year old burst onto the scenes in the second half of the past campaign and made the second midfielder spot his own with some spectacular displays. Has scored crucial goals and provides Leicester with the drive and the energy from the middle. Ndidi will be playing next to Drinkwater in the Leicester midfield.

Marc Albrighton (LW)

Probably one of the most underrated players in the Leicester squad, the 27-year old winger is a quintessential team man. There’s hardly any player that works as hard as he does for the Foxes, both defensively and offensively and is always a threat with his deliveries from the left flank. Irrespective of whether Demarai Gray stays or not, Albrighton will start on the left.

Shinji Okazaki (CF)

The Japanese forward has been preferred in the starting line-up ahead of the likes of Islam Slimani, Leonardo Ulloa and Ahmed Musa just because of the all-round efforts and the industry that he brings to the table. While Leicester would ideally want a new player in this role, they may well have to do with Okazaki for the upcoming season too.

Jamie Vardy (ST)

After an underwhelming start to the 2016/17 season, the Englishman finished the season on a strong note, ending up with 16 goals and 7 assists from 48 appearances across all competitions. There have been reports stating that Atletico Madrid want to bring him in as a replacement for Antoine Griezmann, but that is extremely unlikely to happen and he will lead the line for the Foxes again the coming season.
