Dream Everton XI After January Transfer Window – Featuring This La Liga Goal Scoring Beast

Dream Everton XI If They Spend Heavily In The January Transfer Window

Despite spending £140m in the summer, Everton are clearly struggling to convert their summer spending into performances. Ronald Koeman’s side have only managed to win 2 of their 7 League games so far and have suffered 4 defeats in the process.

The Dutch manager clearly has a big task up his sleeve come January as he looks to address the weak points in his team.

Let’s have a look at what a Dream Everton XI might look like if Koeman decides to spend big once again, this time in the January transfer window.

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Ronald Koeman

Jordan Pickford (GK)

The £30m summer signing from Sunderland hasn’t quite lived up to his price tag this season, with just one clean sheet in 7 games. But the English shot-stopper should be able to do a better job as the season progresses and will remain the first choice at the club.

Mason Holgate (RB)

Holgate has done a decent job in the absence of Seamus Coleman who is recovering from a leg break he suffered during his time with the Republic of Ireland. With no news yet on the progress of his recovery, Koeman might still stick with Holgate come January despite having the experienced Cuco Martina.

Kalidou Koulibaly (CB)

The Napoli centre-half was linked with Everton and the Toffees were asked to pay £50m. Considering the kind of start Koulibaly has made in the Serie A this season, he seems to be a great prospect and Koeman should certainly revive his interest and invest on Koulibaly, who would be a great replacement for the ageing Ashley Williams.

Michael Keane (CB)

Another one of Everton’s expensive summer signings, Michael Keane has definitely been impressive so far and he’s formed a solid partnership with Ashley Williams at the back. There is no reason why the 24-year-old should lose his place in the side come January.

Kieran Tierney (LB)

The Celtic left-back is one of the hottest prospects in European football and there’s no doubting that. A lot of clubs have been targeting the young defender and he’d surely be a wonderful replacement for Leighton Baines. However, it wouldn’t be easy to prise him away from the Hoops.

Morgan Schneiderlin (DM)

Although he hasn’t been quite effective in the past few weeks, the former Manchester United midfielder definitely has the abilities to stop the opposition from creating chances. Koeman continues to keep his trust in the Frenchman and should continue to keep his trust in the player after January as well.

Davy Klaassen (CM)

The former Ajax FC midfielder joined Everton for £23.6m in the summer and is known for his goalscoring and creative abilities. Although he hasn’t managed to make an impact yet, Ronald Koeman is bound to keep his fellow Dutchman in the first team come January.

Idrissa Gueye (CM)

Probably Everton’s best signing in recent years, the Senegalese midfielder has become a key player in Everton’s midfield and is the workhorse of the side. His strength and work-rate definitely make him a starter under Koeman.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (RW)

With Everton spending £45m on the Iceland international, many assumed that he would bring the same kind performances he gave out at Swansea. But the 28-year-old is yet to hit form, with just 1 goal and 1 assist in 9 appearances. But it’s only a matter of time until he gets back his rhythm and so he will be a part of Koeman’s first-team.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (LW)

The 20-year-old has proved to be a surprise package, having already made 14 appearances this season for the Toffees. Koeman has played the youngster in different forward positions, but primarily on the left wing. He already has 3 goals and 2 assists and is only going to get better.

Kevin Gameiro (ST)

The Atletico Madrid striker would be an excellent buy for the Toffees as he will add the much-needed factor to the side, which is ‘goals’. Diego Costa’s imminent arrival in January could force Atletico into selling Gameiro and Everton should be the first ones to make an offer. He has loads of experience, playing for major European clubs and will add a lot to the current Everton side.
