Dream Crystal Palace XI for 2018/19 season featuring 25-year-old out-of-favour Liverpool star

After the first half of this season, Crystal Palace looked destined to suffer relegation. However, credits to Roy Hodgson, who has done a tremendous job since taking charge of the club.

The Eagles beat Leicester City and the result moved Palace to 38 points. Guaranteeing safety was the priority when Hodgson was appointed as the manager and the veteran Englishman is close to doing what was asked of him.

With the season drawing to a close, all eyes will be on the summer transfer window. Here is a dream Palace XI for the 2018/19 season.

Dream Crystal Palace XI

Formation: 4-4-2

Manager: Roy Hodgson

Wayne Hennessey (GK)

Hennessey has been a permanent fixture between the sticks this season and that shouldn’t change next campaign. He is an experienced gloveman and should continue to be Palace’s No.1.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

The academy graduate has done well whenever he’s been given a chance this season. With Fosu Mensah’s loan spell set to end at the end of the season and Joel Ward enduring a tough time, Hodgson should make Wan-Bissaka his first-choice right-back next term.

James Tomkins (CB)

A leader and a warrior at the back, Tomkins has been pretty good for the Eagles. If he can keep his injury problems behind, then he can excel at the highest order.

Mamadou Sakho

Mamadou Sakho (CB)

Sakho needs to find the consistency that made him such a hit last season at Selhurst Park. However, as Palace spent so much money on him, the Frenchman will likely continue is his usual role under Hodgson.

Patrick Van Aanholt (LB)

At left-back, Patrick van Aanholt provides defensive solidity and width when going forward. He has also popped up with goals and looks like a player reborn under Hodgson.

Luka Milivojevic (CM)

The Serbian has been a revelation since joining the Eagles. He provides the team with defensive solidity, breaks up the play and is a crucial figure in the engine room.

Ibrahim Amadou (CM)

A tall and lanky midfielder, Amadou would improve the current Palace squad. Capable of playing as a centre-back, he is a utility player who Hodgson would love to get in summer.

Andros Townsend (RW)

Blessed with blistering pace and high energy, Townsend has wreaked havoc this season. He will find himself in his usual position at right-wing next season.

Wilfried Zaha (LW)

Zaha has been Palace’s standout performer in an otherwise mediocre season. His electric pace, dribbling abilities and skill set make him such a lethal customer to deal with.

Alexander Sorloth (ST)

The January signing from FC Midtjylland, Sorloth should be the man to lead Palace’s attack next season.

Danny Ings (ST)

I feel that Ings would be a fantastic signing in summer for the Eagles. It is very unlikely that the 25-year-old Englishman would start ahead of Firmino at Liverpool and that means he’d be better off looking for greener pastures. A move to Palace would help him rediscover his lost mojo.
