Predicted Chelsea Lineup Featuring Bakayoko And Lukaku

Antonio Conte created history in the Premier League by winning the league title in his first season in England but he seems determined to add some star players to his first-team for next season, to try and repeat, or improve their performances from the previous season.

Having allowed Diego Costa to leave, Conte is looking at Everton’s Romelu Lukaku as a possible replacement but a deal is yet to be finalised. But the manager is also looking to improve other areas of the squad and one position he is close to adding to, is his midfield.

The Italian manager used N’Golo Kante as the first choice midfielder last season and was partnered with Nemanja Matic, to add some mettle to the backline. However, it is now understood that Chelsea are close to landing AS Monaco’s French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in a £35.2m deal this summer. So how will Chelsea lineup with Romelu Lukaku in attack and Bakayoko in midfield? Let’s have a look.

Defence

Conte is expected to stick to a 3-4-3 system that surprised their opponents last season. Thibaut Courtois has recently rejected a new contract but is expected to stay at the club and should start in goal for Chelsea. Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta should start on the right-hand side of the backline while David Luiz could keep his place in the middle of the defence.

Gary Cahill should be pushed on to the bench and though Kurt Zouma could be an option, Conte is expected to spend on a first choice centre back, and it looks like Virgil van Dijk is the man the Blues might sign this summer, to complete their back-3.

Midfield

While Marcos Alonso may find some competition in Alex Sandro for the left wing-back role, Victor Moses is also not expected to be the first choice, with Conte sure to look at a more suitable option.

N’Golo Kante is not moving anywhere anytime soon and is expected to keep his place in the midfield and Bakayoko should be his new partner in crime. This midfield has a decent balance of aggression and discipline and might help Chelsea fight for the title yet again.

Attack

Belgian star Eden Hazard has been linked with an exit but is not expected to quit the Stamford Bridge this summer. He is injured and should have a late start to the season. So Conte should use Pedro and Willian as the two wingers behind the striker.

Conte may yet add another winger for some competition but Hazard will be a constant, playing on the left-flank. Diego Costa was exceptional but is now not needed at Chelsea while Michy Batshuayi is not yet a first team option. Chelsea should be able to land Lukaku and should start with him up front.
