Premier League Champions Chelsea have successfully completed the signing of defender Baba Rahman from FC Augsburg. Rahman will be a great signing for the Blues as he is capable of playing as a full-back, an area in which Chelsea lack alternatives. The 21-year-old Ghanaian international was a member of his country’s Africa Cup of Nations squad that lost to eventual Champions Ivory Coast in the Finals.
Rahman said that he is happy to sign for the club and is very eager to train with his new teammates and manager Jose Mourinho.
Rahman said: I am very happy to sign for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I can’t wait to train with my new team-mates and very much looking forward to working with them and Mr. Mourinho. I am also looking forward to having the opportunity to meet the fans as soon as possible.
Rahman is an attacking full-back who has enormous pace and can also operate as a midfielder or winger. He topped the charts for most successful tackles in the Bundesliga last season. He also holds the most number crosses from the left flank in Bundesliga last season. Rahman was the hero for Augsberg last season as he helped them qualify for the Europa League.
