Scottish club Rangers have signed Jon Toral on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season.

A deal between the clubs had been agreed for the 21-year-old, who was presented to the media at a press conference on Thursday afternoon. Toral came through the Barcelona youth academy and signed for the Gunners in 2014, but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the north London club.

The former Barcelona man has plenty of experience playing football at the Championship level in England though, having spent the 2014-2015 season at Brentford in which he played 34 matches and scored six times.

Toral performed equally well last season when he was at Birmingham, making 36 league appearances and scoring eight goals.

He spent the first half of the current campaign at Spanish top-flight side Granada, but only managed to start five times in the La Liga and found it difficult to establish a firm grip on a starting role playing just 267 minutes of first team football.

Rangers manager Mark Warburton expressed his praise for his new signing, stating he is the kind of player that is technically gifted, has a tremendous left foot, sees the pass early and scores goals. Toral had also previously worked with Rangers manager Mark Warburton at Brentford.

The young attacking midfielder was given the Jersey number 8 and also revealed that he wanted to join the Scottish outfit due to their similarity in football as compared with the Gunners. And Arsenal fans will be hoping that Toral returns to North London as a better footballer.
