Does Arsenal Need To Sign This Lazio Dropout ?

A new striker has been linked with Arsenal now and it is Lazio’s Argentinian Striker Mauro Zarate. One of Zarate’s advisers, Jose Alberti, claims ArsenalLiverpool and Stoke are all interested in bringing the Argentine back to the Premier League in January, the player’s agent told tuttomercato.

The Argentinian has played with Birmingham city back in 2008 on a short loan spell. Once a highly rated youngster, but failed to establish himself at Lazio or Inter Milan, where he spent last season on loan. The player is considered surplus by the Italian club and are ready to cash in during the January transfer window. Along with Arsenal, Liverpool, Stoke has also made enquiries for the Argentinian.

One of his ‘advisers’, Jose Alberti said:

“Mauro would like to have a new chance at Lazio but unfortunately he is not loved and so it makes no sense to continue in this situation.

“Zarate has many admirers in England and there are three Premier League clubs which have asked about him: they are Liverpool, Arsenal and Stoke City. I believe that Lazio want to sell him at all and I think this is a feasible deal in January. “

Considering one average season at Birmingham city, a poor loan stint at Inter and his parent club Lazio who are also willing to part with the striker, it could be the worst move Arsenal have done in the recent past.
