Do it Silva – Everton reviving their interest in £36m summer target would get the best out of Richarlison

Why Everton should make a move for Mousa Marega of FC Porto

Everton were beaten by Manchester City at the weekend but the Toffees have still looked very good under new manager Marco Silva. The former Hull City coach has turned things around for the Merseyside club and they are definitely in contention for a Europa League spot this season.

Silva also made a number of signings to bolster the squad in the summer. Almost all the signings the manager has made has been very fruitful so far, so the club should back him again in January. What Everton lack at the moment is a quality striker.

Over the last few weeks, Silva has resorted to playing new signing Richarlison up front as the lone forward. While the Brazilian has certainly done well up front, Silva is definitely going to need another striker in his ranks.

Turkish forward Cenk Tosun hasn’t been as prolific and has been more of a fringe member this season. The Toffees need more cover if Richarlison succumbs to an injury.

Moussa Marega

Marco Silva should consider reviving the club’s interest in FC Porto striker Moussa Marega. According to the Mirror, Everton were interested in making a move for the Mali international in the summer. The Portuguese outfit also slapped a £36million price tag on their star.

He would be a great addition to this young and vibrant Everton side that are currently on the up. Marega is a terror for the defenders and can cause havoc in the final third with his powerful running on the ball.

Marega has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in 11 league appearances this season. He has also been their leading source of goals in the Champions League as well, scoring 5 and laying on 1 assist 6 appearances. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

The Mali striker is a clinical finisher in front of the goal and that’s exactly what Marco Silva needs in his side. A prolific striker who can lead the line for the squad week in and week out. The likes of Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun have often been wasteful in front of the goal.

Richarlison has also shown that he thrives in a more left-sided position, which means Marega would be the perfect piece to complete the puzzle. His ability to run in behind the defence should work very well with someone like Gylfi Sigurdsson pulling the strings.

Marega is also very strong in the air and will receive a number of chances from full-backs Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne.

Everton should certainly make the move for Moussa Marega. He is one of the most explosive strikers in Europe at the moment and the price tag isn’t a hefty one given they paid around the same for Richarlison. Moreover, the Brazilian can be moved to the left wing, which would get the best out of him.
