Chelsea finally cruised to victory and ended their two-game losing streak against the newly-promoted Premier League side Hull City last weekend.
The hosts could only contain the Blues’ attacking threats for 60 minutes. Afterwards, they fell to the sword as beautifully struck goals from Willian and Costa condemned them to their 4th loss of the season.
Below is a review of each player’s performance.
Courtois
Made a great save to stop a deflected Snodgrass free-kick in the opening minutes of the game. Afterwards, he was hardly called into action for a large period of the match’s remainder, except for some 1 or 2 weak distance strikes which didn’t trouble him. Kept his 2nd clean sheet of the term.

Cahill
Was a surprise inclusion after his recent blunders. He did however, put up a great display in the makeshift 3-man defence. Generally, Hull weren’t much of a threat to Chelsea’s goal, so his quality or lack of it couldn’t be well tested.

David Luiz
Had few moments of struggle against the physicality of Mbokani, but still didn’t allow the former Norwich striker register any shot on or off target. Also played great long balls from the back and made efforts to convert set pieces.
Rating : 4/5
Azpilicueta
Still the best defender in Chelsea’s rank by some distance and he proved that once again with a great display on the right side of the defence.
Rating : 4/5
Alonso
Looking to be doing well in Chelsea’s experimental 5-man midfield. The formation was first deployed against Arsenal during the 2nd half of last weekend’s defeat, and it did work well against the Tigers. Marcos put up a great performance, but his finishing in attack betrayed him.

Kante
Another masterpiece display from the new Makelele. He distributed the ball well and was a bad luck to Hull’s midfielders. He however, missed a sitter and also failed to shoot when through on goal in another instance. He definitely needs to work on his finishing abilities.

Matic
Orchestrated the 2nd goal with a drive through the middle. He also helped keep things tight generally but could have prevented his booking.
Rating : 4/5
Moses
Earned a rare start and justified it with a great performance down the right flank as his dribbling abilities were once again highlighted. Was unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty in the first half
Rating : 4/5
Hazard
Had some few moments of brilliance and was committed often by Hull defenders. It wasn’t his best performance of the season no doubt and he got replaced with 9 minutes to go.
Rating : 3/5
Costa
An assist and a goal for the striker were his rewards for a brilliant game. Having registered his 6th league goal, it looks like he has finally found his form that won Chelsea the league 2 seasons ago.
Rating : 5/5
Willian
His goal on the hour mark finally broke down a resilient Hull City defence and a team that had as much as 9 men behind the ball for the majority of the game.

SUBSTITUTES
Oscar
Came on in the 81st minute and tried to contribute to the attack. It wasn’t enough time for him to make any further impact.
Rating : 2/5
Pedro
Replaced Victor Moses with 5 minutes to go. Saw the ball a few times and ran. That was about all he did.
Rating : 1/5
Chalobah
Was brought in with less than 2 minutes to the end of regular time. Hardly had more than 2 touches.
