Despite Recent Failures, This Worthy Stat Proves Manchester United Are The Best Team in Europe

Manchester United Are Probably The Best Team In Europe And The Stats Prove It

Manchester United were finally able to lift themselves out of 6th place after spending more than 100 days at that position in the points table in the domestic league. The victory over Middlesbrough, will come as a comforting win for Jose Mourinho especially after getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea. With just 5 points separating them and Liverpool, who are 4th in the table, Mourinho will feel that he has a decent chance of qualifying for the Champions League. He also has the back door to the Champions League open, as they are arguably the strongest team in the Europa League. Manchester United are currently favorites to win the competition this season.

But, are they actually one of the best teams in Europe? Here is one stat that proves they might actually be ‘the best’ this season:

The likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus have been ruling the respective domestic leagues in their country and are also up fighting for the biggest prize in Europe. But all these teams have had some setbacks in recent times which has brought them back to the ground. But Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United do not seem likely to lose a game anytime soon as they are now the club with the longest active unbeaten run in Europe’s top 5 leagues.

The Red Devils have lost just 2 games since December, one was in the FA Cup against Chelsea and the other one being a EFL cup loss against Hull, which did not stop them from winning the trophy eventually. They were not been beaten by any other club in any other competition. They have been one of the most consistent teams in the Premier League, not losing a game in the previous 18 games, and once again, the last team to beat them was Chelsea, who have been on a rampage this season. Chelsea have a strong squad and have been helped with fewer fixtures to worry about but Manchester United were active in every cup competition just a month ago and their achievement, especially in England, with all the fixture congestion, is a formidable one.

Jose Mourinho spent big on the likes of Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Eric Bailly and also brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer in the summer. He has been able to integrate all those players in the first team and has been able to find a mantra for consistent results. Though their run of 18 unbeaten games includes eight draws along with 10 wins, that fact that they have not tasted defeat for more than 4 months is what makes Manchester United’s record all the more impressive.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and Juventus, the best clubs around in Europe, have lost games in this period which has also affected their positions in the league table but Manchester United have managed to stay within reach of a place in the top-4. In this period of time, the Red Devils conceded just 11 goals and have scored 29. However, they have not been able to finish games off which might cost them later in the season.

Mourinho has got the side to play a style of football that depends on the confidence of the players and with a run like this, every player in the squad will believe that they can go all the way in all competitions this season. Their victory over Middlesbrough, in the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic showed that they are more than a one-man team and an impressive unbeaten record of 18 games is right up there with the best. We believe it does make Manchester United the best or at least the most consistent teams in Europe at the moment.

What is your opinion on this Manchester United fans?
