Despite A Good Team At The Hands, Pochettino Has Made Some Wrong Decisions In The Transfer Window – Agreed?

Mauricio Pochettino and his Tottenham came from a magical season where they fought for the title until matchday 36 when they tied with Chelsea and eventually lost every hope they had to reach the top spot of the Premier League table.

Pochettino has been doing a great job with Tottenham since his arrival to White Hart Lane a couple of seasons ago, but this one seems like the hardest task for the Argentinean head coach, and that could be well be scripted down due to the bad signing he made last summer.

Let’s take a moment to remember the past season, when Tottenham put all its stuff together, counting with a solid defense for most of the season, with an extremely talented group of midfielders and forwards capable to break every defense they faced. On top of that, they found a great player in the youngster Dele Alli and also saw the ratification of a great striker of Harry Kane, as well.

Tottenham earned the right to dispute big things this season, but they haven’t done their signing job properly. Both Pochettino and Tottenham’s directive made some mistakes while signing the players past summer and we can see the consequences now, as they are struggling to find a reliable striker and missing good performances from other players as well. Today, we’ll try to find out what Tottenham did wrong when purchasing new players.

Starting for one of the most criticized Spurs strikers in the last few weeks, Vincent Janssen. Janssen came from AZ after having great numbers with the Dutch team, but so far this season, he hasn’t displayed the game he showed while playing in Netherlands. Now the Spurs fans feel he owe both the team and the fans themselves. There are other cases, but seeing the lack of goal Tottenham is suffering now, all the eyes are over Janssen.

Talking about different cases, the Kenyan midfielder is undoubtedly the best signing by the manager. Victor Wanyama came to Tottenham after the great performances he had with Southampton last season, and he has shown the same form time and again, but with him playing like a rock, the manager might face selection headaches once Alderweireld returns and Dier will be vying for a first team spot.

We have some more players who haven’t been in their best shape this season starting, like Moussa Sissoko. Moussa landed in North London’s team from the relegated Newcastle United, but this season he hasn’t shown the level that Newcastle fans were used to see from Moussa. It is not a minor detail that Tottenham paid £30 million to Newcastle to bring the French player to White Hart Lane, but so far, he has a lot to do in order to repay that kind of money. The most expensive player for Spurs is currently facing his suspension and has been poor throughout. Questions are obvious.

Besides that, N’Koudou, who gave them the victory in Champions League against CSKA Moscow, hasn’t done much for Spurs. On top of that, Pochettino made several bad choices with their loan policy as well, as they let their good players leave last summer. Federico Fazio is the best example of it and they received their loans players like DeAndre Yedlin, but Tottenham chose to waste this talent, as they sold him to Newcastle.

They badly missed Harry Kane due to an injury, they’re missing Chadli because they sold him and now they need someone who provides security on the midfield. Tottenham surely had great intentions with the signings listed above, but seeing the outcomes at this moment, they weren’t enough for this team.
